I bet you do like Burleson. So do the Cards. They wouldn’t trade him alone for this package, and there is no way on earth they’d trade him AND Ivan Herrera for this package. Try again
This is a relatively realistic offseason for the #WhiteSox that I'd be okay with. In all reality, Skubal/King/Freddy etc. are not likely, nor is a star OF contract like Seiya/Randy/Happ.
Mahle in FA feels like a great blend of quality for the cost of his market. He'd instantly be our best starter and still lets you pursue another arm to eat innings and get strikeouts for the rotation.
Going in for Detmers with Carlson feels inevitable if Reid is made available this offseason. Burke becomes the 3 and the rotation is instantly fortified. Schultz and Sandlin can develop more with Castillo being used to spot start and take bulk out of the pen.
I like Burleson to give more quality contact in the lineup and having Gurriel get to platoon the OF on an incentive deal for similar output against lefties.
Bringing in Herrera to spell Teel and get some rotation at 1B/DH makes sense too while also giving you some quality plate appearances. He's a good buy-low candidate who fits our needs.
Newcomb coming back would be worth every penny. He gives you lots of innings from the left side of the mound and can pitch in any circumstance.
Bergolla replaces Acuna as your IF UTIL/base stealer but he's a better hitter. Doyle is an elite defender off the bench for OF depth. Baldwin and Bonemer have time to adjust, creating a competitive expectations for Burleson and Gurriel.
Something like this definitely gets you to the 90 win mark assuming health holds while also giving you flexbility as the next wave of youth gets ready for the pros.

I think you could make the argument that the real strength in the #STLCards farm system is the group of lower level athletic position players.
Rainiel Rodriguez, Liam Doyle, Tanner Franklin, Joshua Baez, and others near the major leagues are generating the most press right now.
But the group that includes Hernandez, Luna, Dos Santos, Condon, etc. may be even more exciting to me
This is what I think the late 2027 #STLCards COULD look like without leaving the organization at all. This is a pretty competitive roster with a TON of depth.
This is a really fun team. I think that bullpen is still relatively weak, and it's definitely too lefty heavy, but it's better than last year's pen.
This lineup is already taking steps forward. I think Peete could be closer than some thing, and same goes for Jesus Baez. Bernal and Baez being in there all year will be a huge upgrade. I think just clearing some dead weight goes a long way.
The rotation is just ok. I'm fine with them going outside the org, but I like their options here too. Graceffo is a guy to watch in my opinion.
The big time wildcards here are Rainiel Rodriguez and their power arms. Any of them could be up in St. Louis sooner than we expect, and that changes this outlook further.

I don’t think any of these supposed denials are actual rejections.
Those coaches still have jobs right now. Riley is probably getting fired this year, so what he said means nothing.
Danielson and Traylor absolutely can’t say anything else right now. They have a team competing on the field right now. Doing anything except publicly squashing those rumors would be coaching malpractice.
Let’s give it a few weeks before we determine that anyone has made any decisions.

Aranda is 40-40. He’s got a losing record against FBS programs. He’s got a losing record in the B12. He’s got a losing record against P5 schools. He’s 1-6 against TCU.
Baylor has elite facilities, a good NIL pool, and reasonable expectations. Dave wasn’t meeting them. He hasn’t met them in several years.
Firing him not only made sense. It was long overdue.
Traylor’s comments are a nothing burger. This is exactly what Matt Rhule said before he left Waco. And what is Traylor supposed to say? I’m leaving right now? Obviously he wants to see this thing play out
