please please please catch every single person who registers their car elsewhere (except for my neighbor who is cool and nice), I resent paying $3k/year for car insurance while they pay like $300 with their PA plates 😡
new: Gov. Hochul's office is actively looking into any potential tax fraud revealed through the rollout of NYC's pied-à-terre tax, a spokesperson says. e.g., cases where someone claims to live here most of the time, but doesn't pay NYC taxes, or has their car registered elsewhere

fun fact: AT&T used to make you rent your landline phone. You couldn't buy it. Guess what changed that?
BREAKING: Apple will launch Apple Upgrade next week, an iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch leasing/subscription program. It’s partnering with Klarna to launch in the U.S. at online and retail stores. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

... why on on earth was there a frozen dessert permit
Mamdani: In a win for every ice cream lover across New York City, we will work with the state to do away with the frozen dessert permit that requires restaurants to seek out a superfluous second permit for what they’re already doing: serving food. No more treat-sploitation, as we say. Right now, barbershops need three licenses to cut hair: one to be a barber, one to own the shop, and one from the city on top of both. The state of affairs is frankly anti-fade, and we will not stand for it, which is why we will work with the state to streamline these licenses as well. And to the bingo enthusiasts out there, for too long, the potential earnings of a hot streak at bingo have been capped by arcane rules that no longer reflect how the game is actually being played. With OPEN, DCWP will remove unnecessary regulations, including prize limits. These are just a few of the improvements we are proud to announce today as we make it clear we are in the pocket of Big Abuela.

sore losers and sore winners tsk tsk
Some of the Argentinian players kicked off after the whistle blew.

what if we just changed some regulations so that so many of these sidewalk sheds weren't necessary in the first place.
Zohran Mamdani is testing new sidewalk shed designs to replace the typical construction ones in the streets of New York City. Rules are being developed to legalize them and multiple new designs will begin to be used next year.

Alexi did not watch the recent house hearing on private equity in youth sports :(
Youth soccer (youth sports) is a competitive market with businesses selling a product that obviously customers are willing to pay for. I’d love if soccer was free to all. But who is going to pay for all this free soccer?

extremely funny to me that those $98 government-approved price gouged train tickets didn't sell, so now NJ has to tweet stuff like this
This is your reminder: Unauthorized World Cup Match Day Transportation is not optional. Official NYNJ Shuttles SOLD OUT for today. Secure your @NJTRANSIT tickets in advance.

so weird how the reasonably priced shuttles sold out but we still have thousands of $98 train tickets left and are now losing millions due to lower than expected demand for our $98 train tickets.

she's charging $98 for a train that usually costs $12.90, who can I report this to?
Junk fees add up fast – and they make it tougher for New Jerseyans to get ahead. That’s why I’ve directed state agencies to identify hidden charges in the industries they regulate and recommend actions we can take to protect consumers and lower costs.

I didn't catch Apple's WWDC -- can someone tell me if they mentioned fixing the broken keyboard/autocorrect and/or the shit weather app?

I don't want a new OS or a new iPhone or a vision quest, I just want the things I already have to work as well as they used to

lol I did that once and the passenger of the car jumped out and physically attacked me in front of cops who strongly encouraged me not to press charges
growing up my parents told me if you did this in a big city the pedestrians would hit your car as the crossed i think we need to empower pedestrians to self police this stuff again

Good news: our price gouging will not be as bad as previously claimed, thanks to private businesses subsidizing our inability to provide public transportation to events that were planned 8 years in advance.
Good news: Ahead of NJ TRANSIT World Cup train tickets going on sale tonight, @NJTRANSIT is lowering ticket prices to $98 without New Jersey taxpayer money. Thank you to our partners – DoorDash, Audible, FanDuel, DraftKings, PSE&G, South Jersey Industries, and American Water – for helping make this possible. We’re excited to host a world-class event this summer and showcase New Jersey on the global stage.

you will never convince me that they didn't already plan for this to be the price and just said $150 so people would feel grateful when it was generously lowered to $105.
New Jersey Transit are to reduce their round-trip rail prices for World Cup events from $150 to $105 after securing sponsorship support which has enabled the price to be reduced by at least 30 per cent. NJ Transit’s 18-mile journey from New York’s Pennsylvania Station to MetLife Stadium ordinarily costs $12.90 for a return ticket. Full story from @AdamCrafton_ ⬇️ bit.ly/4eREkn1

there's no way this guy actually had to pay all of those tickets, right? Or any of them? If he actually had to pay for them he'd just alter his plates like all of his friends do.

this price "drop" means that game pass ultimate is now $3 more than it was less than a year ago instead of $10 more.
Game Pass Ultimate has become too expensive for too many players. Starting today, we’re dropping the price from $29.99 to $22.99/month. Future Call of Duty titles will no longer join Game Pass Ultimate on day one. They will join this tier the following holiday after launch (about a year later). Current Call of Duty titles will remain available to Ultimate subscribers. We’ll keep learning and evolving Game Pass to better match what matters to players. xbx.lv/4cWO9hR
