Good day to be a Luddite. Canvas is down w/ no warning. Took about 20min but I pivoted my sub plans to paper. Going to need the copy limits lifted if this continues.
Differentiation basically means asking teachers to provide instruction on one topic at elementary, middle and high school levels simultaneously.
I teach 6th gr SS, ancient history. Just learned that my district (one of the country’s largest) does NOT teach anything before 1200AD/CE in high school world history 🤯. No Egypt, Greece, Rome, Arabic Empires. Insanity.
I wouldn’t marry someone with different financial and life goals. All money is our money equally, no separate accounts. I made more $$ while he was in grad school & he makes more now but I do all the shopping, cooking, most kid stuff, plan vacations etc.. That labor is valid too.
My oldest is college bound & reading the course catalog today I SO want to go; to study random literature & history & discuss it with others. Why do so many pay $$ & then waste the opportunity by cheating w/ AI? We must somehow embrace learning & curiosity again as a society.
Difficult life choice: Let the 15yo boy drive the minivan on our road trip or leave him in the backseat & face the very real risk that he will eat everything I packed for the 4 of us for lunch. 🤣🤷🏻♀️
Topics at today’s meeting for beginning teachers-discovery math and peer enabled restructured classroom (peers teaching peers). Sigh. Best I could do was stay quiet. (I’m a mentor so I have to attend.)

I have a recipe for how to get kids who never try to try even less:
1. Give them a task they can’t do
2. Surround them by group members who will do it for them
3. Make sure they choose who the group members are
4. Turn your back on them each time you rotate to a new group.

I’m outraged that @CollegeBoard allows sites to cancel the SAT with less than 12 hours notice. These kids prepare and plan and these tests have a significant impact on their future. It is unconscionable to do this unless there is a natural disaster. 😡😡😡🤯
