The Government must not penalise the industry and damage (more) British jobs just because the Treasury doesn’t understand the wine sector. Ministers should be championing businesses but look set to harm instead. I hope new Ministers means change will happen.
Taxing alcohol by strength is set to cost the wine industry an estimated £300 million and push up prices for UK consumers, without bringing any major boost to Treasury funds 🙅♀️
