Not without more satellites in orbit can actual risky strategic moves be taken
With this success, India's NavIC satellite system is active again at basic working level This is to be followed up with NVS 04 and NVS 05 launches soon Pause of NavIC for so many months was one of our strategic vulnerabilities Now Modiji can start whatever strategic missions he had out on pause

The WSJ lays out what keeping Gulf oil flowing actually involves: -50,000 US troops, 20 Navy ships, two carriers across the region. -$2–3 Billion USD/month or 67-100 Million USD/day above normal military spending -Aircraft, warships and crews under mounting strain. -Some US officials see the situation as untenable without more international help. Coalition efforts have failed. wsj.com/politics/national-se…

The most fundamental reason why China cannot disavow Mao, despite the many many horrors under Maoist rule, is because he is the founding father of the modern Chinese state. All nations are founded on origin stories that mix history with myth; disavowing the founder can feel like disavowing the nation itself. But for those who think Mao was simply a well-intentioned leader with misguided policies or bad advisors, I would invite you to read Ning Zhang's work on Mao's campaign against counterrevolutionaries. The sheer indifference to loss of human life and suffering was an outlier even for the time.

If this was a scheme to not engage with Star Wars in the future, then great, mission accomplished
NEW: Why did EA shut down BioWare? Twitter thinks the studio failed because it was too woke. BlueSky thinks Saudi Arabia killed the studio for being too gay. The real reason? Star Wars bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

I don't think y'all understand the meaning of the word maximum
We’re renaming our Max plans: Max 5x → Max Max 20x → Ultra Max is still $100/month, and Ultra is still $200. If you’re a subscriber, there’s nothing you need to do. We’re also removing the 5-hour limit for verified Ultra accounts, starting today with most existing subscribers. Newer accounts keep a temporary limit until they’re verified, which helps us prevent fraud and abuse. You'll get an email when it's removed. Weekly limits remain unchanged. I'd love to watch a Japanese historical drama about the Soga vs Mononobe-Nakatomi conflict leading to the Taika Reforms. Parallels to the Meiji period, religious conflict, clan politics. It's one period of history I'd love to be a fly on the wall for

Investing into a massive diamond trading complex just as synthetic diamonds start crashing the world market is the most apt metaphor for a traditional mindset
Three years ago, PM Modi inaugurated the 3,200-crore Surat Diamond Bourse, calling it “the best diamond in the world” and an example of “Modi’s guarantee” for Surat. Today, the “world’s biggest office space in a single project” is a largely empty shell. indianexpress.com/article/ex…

Succinctly captures decades long Indian thinking towards technology products. Spending on own R&D is seen as “useless expenditure when one can leverage someone else’s matured tech and settled mfg line” from which one pays after the amortized cost.

The shipyards need orders but by the time these orders will be filled, they will be facing fleets of UUVs and even underwater sustainment platforms getting deployed. One wonders what the state of Indian UUV programs are
CCS has cleared 8 Next Gen Corvettes for the Indian Navy. First mega project to have been cleared in the recent times at the top level. GRSE and Goa shipyards need to get massive orders now

Patrick Stewart was, like many of the greatest British artists of the 20th Century, a working class boy who became a world-class artist thanks to a public arts education made possible by Post War social democracy. He never forgot it.

Golf is one of the worst legacies the British left in India. The day each remaining ground is seized and turned into a datacenter so the water can be used productively is the day India will be a high income country
A famous incident from 2015 that can shed some light on why these clubs are so coveted by many, often more than the game itself, and how the cherished exclusivity often turns into something else entirely.

As an American, I’m pained to say this, but the United States has a huge credibility problem. Given the fate of the JCPOA and the fact it was attacked twice during negotiations, Iran has to worry that, if it makes concessions, the United States will attack it anyway. (1/n)

The stupid thing is that the Red Guard was disproportionately full of former Bourgeois and Class Enemies and their children revolting against the Revolutionary Classes that comprised the party. They hoped via their personal loyalty to Mao, they would be rehabilitated
Yes and the bourgeois are still talking about how scary that was
