The right support, care and knowledge can transform a mother’s pregnancy journey. Guided by a Community Health Promoter, Charity Njeri learned about antenatal care, recognising danger signs and preparing for safe delivery—and put that knowledge into practice. Today, she embraces motherhood with confidence, exclusively breastfeeding baby Chloi and ensuring her little one receives vaccinations on time. Through the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) project, supported by @stckorea and implemented by @SaveChildren_KE in partnership with @cfkafrica and @MOH_Kenya, mothers are empowered to turn knowledge into action for safer pregnancies and healthier babies. The recently concluded Working Better Together global forum in Nairobi opened with a resounding call to transform education in emergencies through locally led systems. Co-convened by @INEEtweets, @EduMinKenya and @uonbi, this summit challenged global actors to dismantle systemic barriers and place decision-making authority directly into the hands of crisis-affected communities. Setting the strategic tone on the first day, Kenya's Education Secretary and Head of the Directorate of Field Coordination and Co-Curricular Activities, Hon. Nelson Sifuna, advocated for a definitive shift toward genuine localization. He emphasized that “Shifting power means moving beyond consultation towards meaningful participation, shared leadership and accountability.” Save the Children Kenya advances this transformative agenda as co-lead of the national Education in Emergencies Technical Working Group alongside @EduMinKenya and @UNICEFKenya. Championing community leadership and resilient public education systems remains essential to our breakthrough goal to ensure that all children survive, learn and are protected.
