Excellent analysis of the junk surveys used to claim a need for 'Conversion Practices' ban

The older I get, the more I realize that life has seasons. And not every season needs to be your best one. Some seasons are for building. Some are for healing. Some are for just surviving. You don’t have to win every single chapter for the whole story to turn out well.
Once again, a stunning piece of analysis by Peter Jenkins:

This awkward dynamic is playing out in workplaces around the UK, as colleagues feel increasingly resentful and unwilling to play along. Our new episode with Dr P @Psychgirl211 drops next week - it's a corker

Another valuable contribution from Peter Jenkins that scrutinises the research underneath the allegations that there are widespread conversion practices and finds.... nothing. A must read.🔥
“Any new legislation first needs to establish proof that it is both necessary & will be cost-effective in achieving its goals”
The #ConversionPracticesDraftBill does neither of these. Nor is there proof conversion practices are widespread

Powerful rule for life: Never make a permanent decision based on a temporary feeling. Bad days pass. Anger fades. Fear settles. Just learn to pause. Take a walk. Sleep on it. Give it a minute. You can always act tomorrow. You can't always undo a rushed decision made today.

I have very intelligent friends who are able to dialogue with me despite disagreement because they are fundamentally values-based people.
The reason they never speak in public and they have opted for self-censorship is because they believe that in doing so they would lose friendships and income. Friendships with people they deeply want to believe are good.
What if I ask this: why do you feel safe in any relationship with a person you lack the confidence to speak freely around?

The same people who wept over Jason Arday are relentlessly hounding Ed Sheeran. The hypocrisy amongst the ‘be kind’ brigade is off the scale.
Ed Sheeran says his family has 'abandoned him' and he's 'found out who his friends are' amid Israel-Palestine row that is threatening his tour trib.al/jLpQHmY

I'm grateful to @joshxhowie and @GBNEWS for having me on Free Speech Nation to talk about how an unelected body called the 'Partnership for Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies' (PCPB) is trying to push through the idea that humans can change sex in the ethics charters of the therapeutic registering bodies by doing a 12 week rigged 'consultation' without any debate.
This will affect therapists registered with @BPSOfficial, @UKCP_Updates and @BACP.
There is a small window of opportunity for the general public to respond to the consultation and tell them what they think of these absurd ideas. Further information can be found at:
pcpb.org.uk/consultation-ope…
We need everyone's help on this. Unless MPs, reporters, and the general public take this issue up with them, then there's very little us therapists can do to stop it. We need your help to address the censorship of anything to do with 'sex and gender' in our profession. Please respond. Thank you.🙏
This was such a powerful conversation. 👏👏👏
Thanks to @joshxhowie

Well said @joshxhowie 👏👏👏
'If you do care about free speech then that includes the right to not have to speak at all.'
@joshxhowie exposes cancel culture as he explains why Ed Sheeran admitting to 'mistakes' over Macklemore was not enough for pro-Palestine supporters to back down.

Ed’s always had the reputation of being one of the decent ones. The rare guy in the music industry who actually lifts people up, nurtures them and genuinely sees music as a way to inspire and bring people together. His entire vibe is wholesome and earnest, the kind of guy who believes in the power of love and all that (it’s way too kumbaya and saccharine for my tastes).
Which is what makes this whole affair so grim.
Because he should be the last person to receive so much hate and vitriol.
When he says he’s lost friends over this, the thing that jumps out to me is the really bad behavior of his “friends” in the music industry.
You know, the ones he actually invited out on his massive tour. Macklemore and the other opening acts get bigger crowds, bigger paydays and a platform most of them wouldn’t have had on their own.
First, Macklemore used Ed’s stage to make the night all about his own cause. Bro you’re the opening act, nobody is paying for those tickets to see you.
Second, after Robert Kraft and the other stadium owners made it clear the shows weren’t happening with Macklemore on the bill, what did he do? He threw his “friend” under the bus.
The decent move would’ve been for Macklemore to say to the public, “this wasn’t Ed’s fault. Don’t turn him into the villain.”
Instead he’s watched Ed take every arrow on social media and get churned through a full-blown media storm. He lets the climate in which activists hysterically accuse Ed of being complicit in genocide and post absurd cartoons of him personally shooting a Palestinian kid with an RPG fester and bloom.
There were lots of things Macklemore could’ve said to take some of the heat off the man who actually put him on that stage. But he didn’t.
Neither did the other openers who walked. Instead they framed it as principle and solidarity. From the outside it just looks like they took the opportunity, cashed the goodwill, and then left Ed trying to figure out how to keep the tour alive for hundreds of thousands of ticket-holders and the crew who actually depend on the tour to get paid. Ed is the one who took all the risk after all.
This dynamic reminds me of those child actors who built careers off @jk_rowling’s work and then publicly disowned her the second her views became inconvenient. These are not good people and they don’t know gratitude.
Ed’s finding out, the hard way, just how many shitty people were around him.
It’s a terrible experience to go through but in the long run, he would be all the wiser for it

What has the Ed Sheeran incident taught us?
That cancel culture has moved from targeting those who say the incorrect thing to those who don’t say the correct thing.

Ed Sheeran doesn’t owe anyone a political stance; he’s perfectly entitled to focus on making music and entertaining his audience.

Replying to @Hankytorious
Jerry Sadowitz, Samantha Pressdee, Roy Chubby Brown, Nohun… all had their gigs cancelled due to activist pressure.

This is awesome. Good for Ed Sheeran
I remember the hell of going through this kind of thing 5 years ago (for praising Andy Ngo’s expose on Antifa and BLM). Insane public scrutiny and media attention. But the actual painful part was seeing friends take the side of the mob. Guys who had been groomsmen at my wedding. Cowards. The beauty of these situations is you clear out the clowns. All the bullshit in your life. Gone. And some unexpected heroes emerge. And the new friends and family on the other side are real. It’s glorious, actually. God is good.
Ed Sheeran did not cancel anyone. The venue owner and promoters did. But Ed Sheeran was nevertheless cancelled for not bowing to the baying Gaza-brain mob. He’s proved to be built of strong stuff
Good for him
