🚨 UPDATE 🚨
Despite what the gov told us on Weds, it's emerged that NOT all students will receive the £100.
Those in uni/private halls or HMOs (3+ unrelated people sharing a kitchen, bathroom etc.) will not receive it.
This is extremely disappointing, and we're pushing back.
🚨 The government has confirmed that students WILL receive the £100 energy payment for households in council tax bands A-D.
Full-time students don't pay council tax and were excluded from similar past schemes, but the Treasury has told us that students will receive this payment.

⚠️ BREAKING: Student Loan interest rates will rise in September.
March's RPI (the figure used each year) has just come in at 4.1%, up from 3.2% in 2025.

❌ This won't affect your monthly repayments, which are always 9% (or 6% on Plan 3) of earnings over a threshold.
✅ But it does mean your student debt grows faster and makes it less likely you'll repay in full.

We've seen this in a few places, but it's INCORRECT. ❌
The interest rate THRESHOLDS have been frozen as a natural knock-on of freezing the repayment threshold.
The interest RATE hasn't been frozen, and hasn't been 7.9% since July 2024.

The interest RATE is currently 3.2% + up to 3%, based on March 2025's RPI rate. The RPI rate in use will change in Sept 2026 to become March 2026's rate.
