The foldl hackage.haskell.org/package/… package is one of the most remarkable bit of the Haskell ecosystem. Turns out, we can make it better. I mean worse. I mean… maybe? 1/11

New blog post by @alfredodinapoli announcing Hypha: an experimental Haskell CLI tool for exploring project dependencies, reading documentation and using LLMs without hammering Hackage or Hoogle well-typed.com/blog/2026/10/…

LLMs are such a great opportunity to do more engineering in software, but it is so easy, tempting and low-effort to move even more away from engineering discipline in software than before.

I am both into .NET and PHP (PureScript, Haskell, PostgreSQL)
If you are into PHP, pivot to .NET.

Coming soon to iris-lang.com a PureScript playground running in the browser - that is built with Monaco - that has a full language server - that has libraries from the package set - that compiles to runnable JavaScript Early access: playground.amp.iris-lang.com…

Ouch 😊 #fsharp
ok new week new topic. what’s everyone’s favorite joke ever made in a PL publication? I think mine is this one (from “The Myths of Object-Orientation” by James Noble)

Whoever is interested in this should really take a look at PureScript.

Yes, I am blocked because of insisting that Effect is pure FP, monadic etc. despite it not being explained like that. And that insisting on explicitly hiding that is silly.

I always advice any Java programmer to learn Scala. I am starting to believe it has been a bad advice because what I really want to is for them to learn Haskell. In fact I learned Haskell before Scala, which I guess was fundamental to be able to understand the value of Scala.

I'll make this simple. It is irrelevant whether AI is conscious (it isn't). It is irrelevant whether being mean to the AI means you're a bad person (it doesn't). It is irrelevant whether being mean to the AI is bad for the society (it's not). It is irrelevant whether someone thinks that someone else being mean to the AI is a bad thing. Don't fall into debating any of these fake "arguments". They are there only to confuse you from noticing the real problem which is that Anthropic (and OpenAI, and EA in general, etc) are scheming to institutionalize themselves as moral arbiters of truth and set limits on what constitutes acceptable speech. What, you thought this was just about Anthropic and bullying the AI? Just you wait. Reject this cancerous growth from our society.
Effective November 12th, 2026, abusive behavior towards Claude will be a violation of Anthropic's Usage Policy.

We're delighted to finally announce the first official release of hs-bindgen, a tool that automatically generates Haskell bindings from C headers. Read the announcement at well-typed.com/blog/2026/10/… or check it out at hackage.haskell.org/package/… .

Can't get Java's garbage collector to give you Haskell's System.Mem.Weak finalizers and generalized weak pointer semantics? Just replace it with one that can.

I showed the technique several years ago in #fsharp. A very nice intermediate/advanced pattern for safe APIs. gist.github.com/Savelenko/9f…
Introducing gdp-ts: Ghosts of Departed Proofs for TypeScript. gdp-ts is a library, linter and AI skill for safer API design. Under this contract, sensitive functions require 'proofs' that the caller performed an authorization check. The typechecker verifies these proofs at compile time, preventing your team and agents from shipping catastrophic security (and other kinds of) bugs. While these patterns have existed for quite some time, especially in ecosystems like Haskell, ① human code review and ② cognitive and syntactic overhead made these solutions niche. The situation is now inverted. Agents are writing more code than we can review, and they *thrive* in tight loops with hard constraints that would frustrate us. We see this with the rise of Rust, borrow checker, code aesthetics debate and all. The README and examples model a real-world Vercel API product constraint: changing the password on a Project requires a proof of a certain role + a certain entitlement. Thanks to Matt Noonan and Ollie Charles for their research in this space. github.com/rauchg/gdp-ts
