Prototype of a Hardware Wallet for blind people.
DIY Hardware Wallets are crushing inclusion.
Replying to @Schoggiherz
Proof of concept: Kern Wallet with accessibility for blind people.
Update: A few dozen custodial accounts were affected by the incident.
Every affected account is identified and will be made whole.
If you were affected, there's nothing you need to do.
If you have questions, reach out at [email protected] any time.
Non-custodial balances are unaffected.
Was able to connect the web @SpecterDIY Simulator I'm currently building with the @SpecterWallet Desktop on my PC via simulated USB connection👀
Will release it soon
GM! 🖩👨💻
In Folge 63 treffe ich @Schnuartz. Dabei sprechen wir über
- die Historie des Coldcard-Vorfalls
- was WIR für unser Setup daraus lernen sollten
- wie sich Entropie eigentlich zusammensetzt
Viel Spaß! 🖩👨💻
When building Specter 3.0 firmware we are currently thinking about two different navigation models.
1⃣Either you have all seeds and all related wallets stored at once.
So scanning a QR Code would automatically find the right wallet.
2⃣Or you would log in with one seed phrase and see all the related wallets and subaccounts. "Scan" button would only apply to all related wallets of that one seed.
What do you think is more intuitive?

I love specterDIY, I bought mine last cycle, sat in my drawer until the cold card hack, since I’ve updated the firmware twice and got refamiliar with it.
People use at least three different meanings of “Bitcoin Layer 2”:
1⃣Network L2: an interoperable protocol cryptographically pegged to Bitcoin in a trustless manner. It preserves Bitcoin’s peer-to-peer nature and disintermediated verifiability, and does not use IOUs.¹
2⃣Broader technical L2: a protocol that extends Bitcoin’s functionality. Bitcoin is locked on L1 and represented or used on L2. This can involve additional trust in centralized actors or network operators, with eventual settlement back to Bitcoin.²
3⃣Monetary L2: any off-chain interaction that transfers a BTC balance from one entity to another, whether as an IOU or as actual ownership.¹
When I say “Bitcoin L2”, I mean definition #1.
Under that definition, I do not consider @Liquid_BTC , @CashuBTC , @fedimint , or Spark to be Bitcoin Layer 2s.
They can still be useful technologies built around Bitcoin. I just would not call them Bitcoin L2s.

After my recent post about this ultra cool simulator for every Bitcoin hardware and software wallet, @stephanlivera shared his interview with the builder of this awesome website.
Will watch that later today 👀

@mineracks demonstrates Wallet Playground and explains why hardware wallets are signing devices, not wallets.

You can simulate:
- any Hardware Wallet
- any Software Wallet
And let them communicate on Signet. It is a bit buggy cause he probably has the VPS architecture I had in the beginning but the communication between the Hardware Wallet and companion App works very well.
Also probably it makes problems when to many people are using the site, as they are probably all using the same devices at the same time.😅
Highly recommend checking that out.
Rob built a @SeedSigner Simulator in the browser.
I did the same for @SpecterDIY even month before. But my build was bad. It run the Specter as a simulator on a VPS and connected to the VPS to the browser. Allowing only 5 persons at once using it.
Never released it cause it was buggy. Only internally for testing the new Specter Firmware variations we are building.
But now I saw how elegant Rob had implemented it. I'm now also rebuilding mine on micropyhtong directly allowing to simulate SD-Card, QR-Scanner and Smartcards.
Updates soon

Hardware wallets deserve to be criticised, but the reality is they have helped a lot of people secure their slice of freedom.
But you can feel we’re evolving out of & it seems stateless signers are the next major step in self custody..
You can try out @SeedSigner in a browser!
