Something I realized is that you have to know what your currency is at work. For example in academia do they let you get away with certain things because you’re bringing grant funding or your status makes the university look good. It’s all a game. So, know your currency.

Agreed, however I will say since this administrations attack on DEI and science. Black academics are in the crosshairs and many of these institutions made a point to not only rid themselves of Diversity offices and admins but also rid themselves of Black faculty as well
