Laying out the puzzle pieces🧩of photoexcited radical catalysis
tinyurl.com/ycyyaeku @angew_chem
Mechanisms heavily debated because ps-lifetimes of excited states kinetically prohibit diffusion🛑
The most curious aspects? Wavelength dependence🚦&divergent chemoselectivity🤔
🧵 – at Milngavie, Scotland
A couple of new pre-prints just out from the group.
If you're interested in main group chemistry or the mechanisms of photoredox catalysis at least one of these should be of interest!

Congratulations to Matt for picking up one of the presentation prizes at this year's Bolland Symposium!
@BathChem @UniofBath
Just accepted in @DaltonTrans , more progress in our direct P4 functionalisation work with @TheWolf_Group,
taking an important step towards large scale feasibility.
Really pleased to contribute this as part of the 2026 New Talent: Europe collection.

Yet more results from our work with @TheWolf_Group, just accepted in @ChemCommun.
Building on earlier work, we now show how useful primary phosphines can be prepared in one pot directly from P4.
Excellent work from all involved!

Counterintuitive Photochemistry of an Isolated Acridinyl Radical: ConPET via Preassembly, Solvated Electrons or a Long-Lived Excited State? (Daniel J. Scott and co-workers) @ScottChemistry #openaccess 🔓 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
Just out in @angew_chem: a thorough look at an isolated acridinyl radical and its conPET-type photochem., with an emphasis on understanding how SET takes place.
(Dynamic quenching? Preassembly? Solvated electrons?)
Thanks to collaborators @RCNSTheoChem!

Another new paper from our ongoing work on elemental phosphorus chemistry with @TheWolf_Group, just published in @InorgChemFront.
This time we show how our previously reported P4 hydrostannylation chemistry can be extended to analogues based on Ge and Si.
