Pima County has held Sergeant Snuggles in a cage for eight months and still wants to put him down over one bite on his family's own property. He is a young Anatolian Shepherd. Guardian breed built to protect land and livestock. The pup was doing his job when grandma startled him from behind. He nipped once then stopped. Grandma has said from day one it was her fault for spooking him. She is fine and she wants her granddog home with the kids who miss him like crazy. The family lives on good acreage with fencing. They offered training. Extra security. A behaviorist who said he is not dangerous. Livestock experts said the same. Pima County animal control and the courts did not care. They slapped the vicious label on him anyway. Locked him in isolation. No real visits. Fees stacking while the kids wait. This Saturday at ten in the morning folks are rallying to bring him home. PACC parking lot on Broadway in Tucson. Special guests Lucy and Brendan Jones with family driving two thousand miles from Virginia to stand shoulder to shoulder. Lucy beat a similar raw deal and finally reunited with her people. Now they are fighting for another family to get their dog back. This is government overreach plain and simple. #SaveSnugglesUpdate I've been a little MIA lately because I've been working behind the scenes on a few personal issues and on several dog cases, including #SaveSnuggles. After Jennifer and I called more than 50 attorneys in Arizona, being ignored by some, turned down by others, and receiving quotes ranging from $25,000 to $50,000 for legal representation, we were starting to wonder how we were going to find the right attorney for this fight. Then something unexpected happened. An attorney was reading about the dog that was sh*t after the Knicks game. That story led her into the dog advocacy side of X, where she eventually came across the #SaveSnuggles case. Last week, Jennifer had a great conversation with her. This morning, I had the opportunity to speak with her as well. She is based in the Houston area, and while there is still a lot of work ahead of us, this is the most hopeful development we've had in quite some time. Sometimes the right people find a case when they are meant to. Thank you to everyone who has continued sharing posts, making phone calls, sending emails, praying, and refusing to give up on Snuggles. For the first time in a while, it feels like we may finally be moving in the right direction.
