The Launch Is Just the Beginning Crypto does not have a shortage of tokens. And launching one has never been easier. Pick a ticker, upload an image, deploy, build a market. That accessibility is a good thing. But we think the next step is making the things people launch more interesting. Urufu was built around a simple question: What if launching the token was the beginning of the experiment? A token can be more than a market. It can have rules. It can interact with other assets. It can reward particular behaviors, incorporate NFTs, respond to onchain activity, change how liquidity works, or become one component inside a much stranger system. The problem is that building any of this usually requires considerably more technical knowledge than launching a token. So we built the missing layer. Urufu gives creators modular building blocks they can compose during deployment instead of requiring every project to build its mechanics from scratch. And the possibilities don’t end when a token graduates. Graduated tokens move into Uniswap v4, where hooks open another layer of programmable behavior around liquidity and trading. That creates a much larger design space for creators. Along the way, we also had the opportunity to rethink some familiar launch problems: snipers, bots, liquidity design, and the gap between creators with an idea and developers who understand the machinery required to build it. We spent enough time hearing about those problems that eventually discussing them became less interesting than building around them. Hence Urufu. We don’t think every token needs a 47-page whitepaper or a revolutionary financial primitive. Some things should exist because they’re useful. Some because they’re interesting. Some because a community wants them. And some because somebody had a bizarre idea at 3 AM and now wants to find out whether it works. That’s the part of crypto we’re interested in.
