Ludwig von Mises built the intellectual case against central planning so thoroughly that his critics never actually refuted it. They ignored it, mocked it, then watched the Soviet Union collapse in 1991, confirming every word. His 1920 paper on socialist calculation cut to the bone: without private property and genuine price signals, planners fly blind. Prices carry information no committee can replicate. Kill the market, kill the signal, and you get Soviet bread lines and Venezuelan grocery shelves stripped bare. Mises lived this. He fled Vienna in 1940 with the Nazis closing in, arrived in New York nearly broke, and rebuilt his career at NYU largely without a paid faculty position. The establishment academia of his era dismissed him because he made their Keynesian comfort too expensive to keep. Human Action, published in 1949, remains the most comprehensive defense of individual liberty and market order ever written. You live inside an economy shaped by bad ideas Mises systematically destroyed, but nobody told you.

Physics is hard to visualize through static images alone, so I turned my 174 pages of high school physics notes into an interactive website. It covers mechanics, electricity, and magnetism, breaking down complex concepts into intuitive visualizations, real-world scenarios, and interactive problems. Check it out here: atlas-of-physics.vercel.app/

🚨#BREAKING: An employee for Flock told a reporter that if he wants privacy, he can "opt out of society." So that reporter filmed a Flock worker installing a Flock cam on a public road next to his house... ...so Flock called 3 POLICE OFFICERS to pull over THE REPORTER for following them Yep, you read that right... the surveillance camera company called the cops because someone was surveilling them install surveillance. The reporter's name is Brendan Keefe. He's a national investigative reporter who has been digging into Flock and police abuse of its surveillance network since January. Flock happened to be upgrading a camera about a mile from Keefe's own house, so he parked at a distance, put out his press placard, put on a yellow vest, and pulled out a news camera. The Flock installer saw him, packed up his ladder, jumped in his vehicle, and took off. Keefe followed several cars back to document the next installation. The Flock employee picked up the phone and called 911. "I work with Flock Safety, and I'm getting followed, harassed pretty much, taking videos and pictures." Next thing Brenden sees are THREE Georgia police cars with their lights on behind him. "The reason why I'm stopping you is because there is a vehicle that says that you have been following them." He was released with no charges. Because he did nothing wrong. Filming in public is legal in all 50 states.

"every other terrible implement"
“Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American.” More than 3 years before ratification of the 2nd amendment, Tench Coxe told us that our right to keep and bear arms is a natural right - not something that requires permission from government. And that includes military weapons too

Listening to respected lubrication industry engineer, talking about how he was mentored on a very specific grease and additive he had to use to replace his bicycle ball bearing as a kid, and that created a lifetime interest. Kids need to be out there doing random things.

Murray Rothbard sat down and wrote Man, Economy, and State in 1962, and produced what remains the most rigorous reconstruction of economic theory from first principles ever attempted by a single human mind. You should treat this book the way physicists treat Newton's Principia: as the foundational text that reordered an entire field. Rothbard starts from one irreducible fact. Humans act. From that single axiom, he builds price theory, capital theory, production structure, and monopoly theory, all without a single econometric regression in sight. He systematically demolishes the case for government intervention by showing how each distortion generates further distortions, cascading outward until someone eventually calls for another intervention to fix the previous one. Rothbard separated himself from contemporaries like Samuelson through intellectual courage. Samuelson dressed mathematics up as economics. Rothbard did the harder thing: he reasoned carefully from human behavior. Power and Market, published alongside the main volume, extended this into devastating critiques of taxation and regulation. Read both. Together they form an education that most graduate programs in 2026 still quietly avoid assigning.

Getting executed by the police because the totally innocuous Skynet camera told them I was a killer
🚨 FLOCK ERROR = GUNS DRAWN Police shut down I-94, boxed in a silver SUV, and held two people at gun point after Flock cameras flagged the car as “connected to a homicide.” Except it wasn’t. The alert was outdated. Authorities forgot to remove it. Trust the algorithm.™

The inner sanctuary of Solomon's temple is made of “oil wood,” and Solomon makes two monumental olive wood cherubim to guard the ark-throne of the Lord. The temple was God’s garden, His olive grove, where He walked among the trees in the Spirit of the day. Jesus walked out of that olive grove to another, the Mount of Olives, to prophecy the temple's end, surrounded by His disciples, God's new olive grove. The church is that olive grove, the new holy of holies, where our Lord sits enthroned to instruct us. We are the Father’s children, olive trees round about His table. We are anointed ones, made kings and priests to God, oil trees, green and full of sap beside streams of water. Olive trees were created on Day 3 of the week of creation, along with fruit-bearing trees and vines and seed-bearing grasses. On the third day after Jesus’ death, He began a new creation and a new temple that is the body of Jesus, where these three abide: the bread and the wine and the oil.

Replying to @Logo_Daedalus
Isn’t there tension here between your admiration of the Puritan program and the support of aristocratic laziness for the masses?

Americans know the Declaration's soaring case for natural rights and government by consent. Fewer remember its list of "injuries and usurpations" against King George III. In a new Cato Podcast episode, @Thomas_A_Berry joins @MrRBourne to discuss Cato's new book, A History of Repeated Injuries, and ask whether modern governments have revived the threats to liberty the Declaration denounces—from taxes and juries to immigration and executive power.
