(1/17) Had a little convo about the rise of indie Dino Crisis inspired games in the 2020s, & decided to post it all here. Here's 15 upcoming & released indie games directly inspired by Dino Crisis.
Going to try to do one game per tweet, starting with one I'm REALLY excited for.
I watched with horror at all the layoffs in our industry last year, and this year is somehow even more horrifying already - and I'm only seeing it second-hand (I know people who were laid off and see companies all around me I know doing this) 🧵
Then the layoffs really picked up steam, even the publishers were hit - some I even had built good speaking terms with were laid off, suddenly and harshly - nobody has been safe
Funding out there has really dried up, and its not looking any healthier so far this year.

When Nintendo was at an extremely low point, Iwata said something we haven't really seen since.

We thought our past experience as devs could suffice for the lack of a complete game loop demo, but we were wrong.
Someday we'll talk about the industry wide norm of us indies dealing with 70% of the problems in a project to make a complete demo from our own pockets. Not today.
It's been so nice to see everyone play the demo and have fun! 💖 Yes it has a touch of "jank" 😇- this would be addressed with funding via publisher. Most of what you see is created by myself and this needs a funded team to do dinos justice!🐲

Implemented a small hotfix patch to fix "Boot Scoot" issue caused by hitting an enabled dev key that tested the last stand mechanic (this would then remain on forever with amusing results)
Thanks to @MainFrameGamerz for posting this one, and soldiering on his booty to the end!
If you came for the dinos, do not fear! We will be sharing posts about other amazing dino games that are in the works, so you can support them and follow them on their development journey.
We will be sharing our future endeavours with you on this account so stick around, especially if you are a survival horror fan.
Our hunt for a publisher is still on (if you are a publisher who is interested, please reach out) but for now, we will be putting Primal Omen on ice and moving onto other, smaller scoped projects.
Please download, share with friends, review and enjoy. We really appreciate the love that you’ve shown this title so far.
