My staff attended the Star Presentation for Steven Nanni. Steven has worked with local churches, theatres, opera houses, and charities. He is truly a shining star in our community, and now he will live in history on the Wall of Stars here in the Broome County Forum Theatre.

My staff went on the Legislative Bus Tour for Tompkins County Soil and Water Conservation District. This tour was an incredible opportunity to see local farms and creeks around our area, to learn about native plant species, and meet other local officials.

I attended the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways Women of Distinction ceremony and presented an award to this year’s honoree, Carolyn Mancini. Carolyn is a lifelong resident of Senate District 52 and a leader in the construction industry across New York State.

I joined CMP Advanced Mechanical Solutions and presented them with a New York State Senate Proclamation to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Today’s anniversary represents 20 years of careers built and a company that has become part of our community’s fabric.

September is National Infant Mortality Awareness Month. In 2024, the mortality rate for Black/African American infants was two times higher than infants nationwide. As a member of the Senate health committee, I am committed to funding research to close this gap in infant care.

My staff tabled at Access to Independence of Cortland County’s Disability Voting Rights Week, which is September 14-18. This was a wonderful event and a great chance to meet constituents, talk to other organizations, and get out into the community.

Today I joined Assemblywoman Lupardo and local representatives in celebration of the first-ever Broome Arts Festival, marking the 40th anniversary of our beloved Broome County Arts Council. Accessing local art is important because it tells us the stories of our neighbors.

I attended India Day at the India Cultural Center (ICC). There was amazing food, performances, and dancing. I’m proud to see our Southern Tier communities grow more diverse every year. Thank you ICC for another great celebration!

Today from 10-1 my staff is tabling at United Way of Tompkins County’s Day of Caring event. This fun day brings together local organizations for carnival games, face painting, and a personal care supply drive. Come stop by!

My staff was honored to attend the City of Ithaca’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. Today, we pause to remember not only those lost on this specific day, but every first responder, survivor, and volunteer who has since succumbed to illness tied to their service in the aftermath.

I stood with my fellow officials in recognition of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centers. Today and everyday, we honor the memory of the lives lost, the heroes who stepped forward, and the resilience of our great nation.

I spoke at BC Safe’s 7th Annual “Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk” press conference, which highlighted their campaign to raise awareness about having conversations with loved ones about mental health.

I spent yesterday afternoon with SUNY Chancellor King, Binghamton University President Anne D’Alleva, and students at Binghamton University’s Empire State Service Corps program. These students are truly remarkable and dedicated to giving their time back to our community.
