Today we honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day—a day of truth, justice, and kinship. May we celebrate the living cultures and enduring wisdom of Indigenous communities, and learn from their stories to build a more just and sustainable future for all.

What happened in Marble Hill is unconscionable. No badge places anyone above the law.
Our neighborhoods are not battlegrounds. Our children are not collateral damage.
Get ICE away from our communities and our children.
Abolish ICE. Human dignity is not negotiable.
Public service should do more than open doors. It should help young people find their voice, know their power, and use both with purpose. Proud of our summer intern Daisy DeGear, whose op-ed was published at Wesleyan.

Every child deserves a school that sees their promise before their mistakes. In my latest op-ed with Assemblymember @SolagesNY, we make the case for our Solutions Not Suspensions Act—and schools where safety grows from support and dignity, not exclusion.

Today, my Chief of Staff Johanna Garcia stood with the Road to Better Busing Coalition, parents and advocates for S.1018.
A right to education means little when an unreliable bus keeps a child from class. Reliable transportation is educational equity.
Let’s get it done!
Grateful to have joined Friends of Devoe Park, families & neighbors for a day rooted in community—from beautifying our park to helping students start school ready. Strong neighborhoods grow when we care for our children, our public spaces & one another. – at Englewood Cliffs, NJ

“And let us teach the generation that inherited September 11 as history that the greatest memorial we can build is not made of stone.
It is the society we choose to become.”
Wise words from Senator Jackson!

"Students across New York are returning to classrooms, meeting new teachers and beginning a new year filled with possibility.
Yet for many students, particularly Black students and students with disabilities, back to school means a return to discipline policies that push them out of the classroom rather than help them succeed in it.
As state legislators, we have a responsibility to make sure New York’s schools live up to the promise of academic success for all students. That means recognizing that academic success, mental health, and a supportive school environment are deeply connected."
