Most brands add a Subscribe & Save widget, watch nobody use it, and decide subscription doesn’t work for them. This week on Send It! Pod @jimmykim and @ecomchasedimond break down how consumable brands get customers into subscriptions and replenishment, and why most brands only do half of it. In this episode: → Subscription vs. replenishment, and why you likely need both → When subscription fits your product (and when it doesn’t) → Where to offer it: first purchase vs. after the habit forms → Why the discount shouldn’t be the whole pitch → A replenishment timing playbook built around your product’s reorder cycle This s Part 1 of a 2 part series. Part 2 will be on keeping subscribers drops next week. Watch now → youtube.com/watch?v=AXgvrdeB… Big shout out to our friends at @omnisend , @Retentiondotcom, and @getallanai for being great partners. We recommend these as great adds to your retention stack!

A 10% off banner is a bad reason to risk your receipts. Promotions can drag marketing reputation problems into your transactional sending stream. Protect the emails that confirm the sale before chasing the next one. @jimmykim @ecomchasedimond

Did an audit on a brand with a genuinely good email program. Their flows were built properly, calendar full, nothing obviously broken. So I asked what they’d tested in the last quarter... They said 2 subject lines on just one campaign. Everything else in those emails had been decided exactly once.  The hero, the offer, the order of the sections, the copy under the button. Someone picked all of it on a Thursday 18 months ago, and it’s been running that way ever since. And to be honest, that's most email programs I look at. Most brands are just happy they have flows running at all, but that's not a truly optimized program... And it's losing you money every single day it runs untouched. @getallanai is the first thing I’ve seen that goes after the rest of it. It sits on top of Omnisend or Klaviyo, and you load variants into a library (or use their AI) to create heroes, body copy, offers, subject lines, up to a hundred per slot. Then it builds each email per subscriber out of that library and keeps score of what’s landing across everyone moving through. Every element gets tested on every send, and nobody has to set any of it up. It's free for 30 days, and the trial includes the creative, so there’s nothing to build before you start. You really have no good reason to NOT give it a go: getallan.com

If the offer is the headline, your order email has lost the plot. Put the order details first. Keep any offer secondary. The next purchase starts with how you handle this one. @jimmykim @ecomchasedimond

Get exclusive access to 350,000+ people who are interested in all things AI and building w/ AI We’re thinking of auctioning off an exclusive sponsorship (link and logo in bio) plus special demos and mentions in both of our AI Evolution accounts. They have over 350,000 rabid followers across X and LinkedIn. Combined do over 4,000,000 impressions per month. Likely a lot more after the auction... Call it a “takeover” if you want! Your brand will be featured and shared exclusively all month long. Maybe we call it MOREvember? More eyeballs, more leads, and more new users. :) Let me know in the comments. Would you bid on this? 1. Hell yes! We will win it. 2. I’m a maybe. Just have some questions. 3. Nah, I’d rather spend all our budget on Google and Meta ads!

Your order confirmation is not a second promo campaign. Keep the order details front and center. Question every offer that competes with that job. Reaching a customer is an opportunity. Keeping their trust helps earn the next purchase. @jimmykim @ecomchasedimond

While we're talking about popups, here are 4 other quick things I'd also do: 1. Turn the popup off for anyone who bought in the last 30 days. A welcome discount for a recent buyer just trains them to wait for a code. 2. Use different popups by page. Homepage for email signup. Product page for restock or size alerts. Cart for free shipping over a minimum. One offer sitewide is usually the wrong offer for most of those pages. 3. If someone lands from an email, don't ask for their email again. Either skip the popup or show something useful like early access or a new drop. 4. Cap how often the same person sees it across days, not just in one visit. Closing it once shouldn't mean they see it again every time they come back that week. Worth layering on top of Smart Triggering.
A shopper can close your pop-up and still be interested in buying. They might want to: - Read reviews. - Compare products. - Check sizing. Once they’ve had time to look around, they may be more open to signing up. That’s where @AliaPopups Smart Triggering comes in. It looks at how people browse your site to decide who should see your popup again and when to show it during the same visit. The message, design, and offer stay the same. Alia adjusts the timing. Alia’s Smart Triggering can capture up to 40% more signups. And with BFCM around the corner, those extra signups matter. The more shoppers you capture now, the more time you have to build relationships with them before your promotions go live. You can introduce them to your products, learn what they're interested in, and bring them back when it's time to buy. That's especially valuable during BFCM, when ad costs rise, and competition for shoppers gets tougher. Reaching people already on your email and SMS lists is more cost-effective than paying to acquire that traffic again. So if you haven't looked at your onsite acquisition strategy ahead of BFCM, now's the time. Every visitor who leaves without signing up is a missed opportunity to grow your owned audience. My link gets you a special 30-day free trial of Alia so you can try Smart Triggering before BFCM: hubs.la/Q04y08-G0

Your receipt is not permission to push harder. The customer opened it for an order update. Keep that job first. Getting greedy with the attention can cost you the trust that makes another purchase possible. @jimmykim @ecomchasedimond

Your next campaign has to earn attention. Your order confirmation is expected. That trust changes how the message lands. Make the email useful, then build the relationship beyond this order. @jimmykim @ecomchasedimond

Your order confirmation sends. That does not mean it sells the next order. Developers own accuracy and delivery. Who owns what happens after the customer opens it? Give transactional email a growth owner. @jimmykim @ecomchasedimond

Your campaigns interrupt. Your shipping emails get sought out. Order confirmed. Shipped. Out for delivery. Each update earns attention from someone who already bought. Treat that experience like it matters to the next order. @jimmykim @ecomchasedimond
