I draw your attention to SI No. 68 of 2025 which comes in effect on 1st January 2026. This will force mines to buy from local manufacturers. Mines will have to reserve at least 20% of their annual procurement budget for Zambian owned companies. Last year cabinet approved the establishment of Zambia Minerals Investment Corporation (ZMIC) which will allow GRZ to trade minerals directly. Unlike the old model (ZCCM-IH) where GRZ got a dividend when mines declared a profit, ZMIC will take a percentage of the physical copper produced by all the mines and sell it on the open market. ZMIC is tasked with entering into joint ventures specifically focused on value addition. ZMIC will also have the right to acquire substantial stakes (up to 30%) in new mining projects. Zambia, DRC and USA also signed an MOU to create a regional value chain for EV batteries in 2022. This was followed by the Transboundary Battery and Electric Vehicle Special Economic Zone agreement in 2023. A pre-feasibility study carried in 2023 confirmed that the project is technically and financially viable. It found that manufacturing battery precursors in Zambia and DRC would be significantly cheaper than in the US or China. This project is supported by Afreximbank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the US government Things are happening, but we all seem to be preoccupied with politics to notice all of this. Any one interested in learning more about the Transboundary Battery and Electric Vehicle Special Economic Zone can follow the links below uneca.org/stories/eca-and-af…. uneca.org/stories/zambia-and….

If you are a Zedian you need to read this report because it shows that we are our own worst enemy....Zambians are complicit in the impoverishment of their fellow citizens. This took me a number of day to create because I did not want leave out any details and this is why it is about 50 mins long. If you can watch a 1 hr Nigerian movie or a movie on Netfix, you owe it to yourself to watch this.

I have an interesting story...6 months after I arrived in Australia for my studies, I was in the reception area of the admin building and there were these 2 ohns who were presenting their passports so that they could be issued with student IDs. They had Zambian passports but I could tell they were not Zambians. So I stuck around the area and when they were done, I walked up to them and introduced myself as a fellow Zambian. I asked which city they came from and they said Lusaka. I asked them which part of Lusaka they came from and they said they came from "the Matero". Those ohns where West African. They had never been to Lusaka because non of them could name any single place of interest When I asked which primary schools they attended...that is when they just walked off without saying a word. I went to back the reception and told them that I thought that those 2 students were traveling on Zambian passports, but they were not Zambians. Those guys knew that they were busted and they just disappeared. Never attended a single class. I don't know if they were ever caught. Too much njala ku Immigration dept...
Replying to @joseph_kalimbwe
@joseph_kalimbwe is right about the NRC issue did u know Yes, the US implemented visa suspensions and restrictions for Zambians, partially driven by concerns over passport security and foreign nationals acquiring Zambian passports. Document Integrity Concern the US Government

This really is a small world...I made a connection with my late friend's cousin here and I am really looking forward to catching up with him on my next visit.
As a Gen Xer, can some one please explain what has changed. In my time, as ohns we did this all the time whenever we saw chics we liked. Let me tell you one of the stories. Me and my late friend (MHSRIP) were in Kitwe to buy some emeralds and we booked 2 rooms at Hotel Edinburgh on the 4th or 5th floor..I can't remember. This was in 1992 or 93. After our transactions, me and my friend were hanging in my room having a few beers while looking across the road to the hotel pool. We saw these 2 "hot" chics swimming, so I rang room service and told them to go to the pool area and tell the chics they could have whatever they wanted and charge it to us. The waiter went down to the pool and told them what I said. When they asked who was paying, the waiter pointed towards us and we waved at them, After they finished swimming, they came up to the room to introduce themselve. It turned out, they were cousins from Lusaka visiting relatives in Kitwe. We asked them if they wanted to go out with us to Cinderella Nightclub (Cindy's) later in that evening. They agreed and said they wanted to go and dress up. We gave them cab fare and they did come back. For us, we took a shot and if they did not come back, it was all good. I was single then, and that's how Playaz played. What's different now? What do today's Playaz do?

If you are a ZCCM-IH share holder but you own less than 100 shares, you must pay attention to this...

Yesterday's sell off in the Tech sector was brutal due to disappointing corporate earnings. Intel's stock dropped like a lead ballon by 28.6%...this is Intel's worst drop since 1974!! Aaanndd..Antrophic's IPO might already be in trouble due to the fact that it may get a junk credit rating after the IPO..likely a BB. This will be a signal to lenders that there is a higher risk Antrophic might not pay its debts, therefore, lenders will demand higher interest rates to compensate for this risk. Is the AI bubble imploding??

Friday is for Rave...
What will be the source of my inebriation this Friday evening (F1). Asahi it is as it was on sale...this is where I'm at now. A good Friday evening for me is being at home knocking back some cold lagers or a good Shiraz. At some point, you outgrow clubbing and dinner balls and galas become your thing. I have always been an outgoing person and I made sure the boss understood this when we started dating. Back in the day, Friday was boys night out...as my good friend Chellah Katwishi used to say "Friday njikata". Saturday night was dedicated to our wives. We would all link up as a group and we would basically bar hop from 18hrs until we ended up at Zenon, Great Wall, Black Velvet, Zorba the Greek or Oasis. Sunday was always about linking up at Mike's Car wash, which was like a car show. If you wanted to see the best rides in Lusaka, you went to Mike's or Makeni Gardens.. Been there...done that. It takes a lot to get me excited. Even when I visit, I would rather have a drink at a bar in Kabwata or Chilenje than ku Chicago's and other such joints. Life's good..

This is a massive hack. I started trading Bitcoin in 2017 when the price was just under $10,000 (F1) and I have made good money on it over the years. I sold my last Bitcoin last year at a top price of over AUD$122K (F2). I no longer trade any crypto because for, I've always treated crypto as gambling. These days, I only buy Bitcoin to send to people who ask me for help because it protects my identity unlike mobile money.

Very sad news. Sincere condolences to the Woods family. I have fond memories of Denis Woods reading the market reports on ZNBC when LuSE was in its infancy in the mid 90s. MHSRIEP.
Really saddened by the news of the death of Mr Denis Wood or Uncle Denis as we called him during our pre marriage classes he conducted with his wife at St Ignatius. What a great, funny & inspiring couple they were. Our paths would also cross lots of times when I worked for JCTR. A jovial & great man. Heartfelt condolences to the Wood family. MHSRIEP 🕊️

If GRZ applied the Windfall Tax today as was written in 2008, the mines would be losing money. Zambia Minerals Investment Corporation Limited (ZMIC) was established to address this same thing. We need to wait for more details about ZMIC
Copper is nearing US$15,000 per tonne on the LME. Imagine how much we would be coining with Windfall Tax right now.

Unfortunately, the majority of retail investors do not understand that a good company and a good price are different questions..
Thinking of buying the Amalgamated Brands IPO? Read this first. AB is a good-looking company. But a good company and a good price are two different questions. I went through the prospectus and ran the numbers. Here’s what stood out. 👇 View article
