Tejasvi Surya, let's examine your five questions with facts, not political rhetoric. 1. Modi won in 2014, 2019 and 2024 without SIR. Correct. But SIR is not the issue in isolation. The question is whether the electoral rolls prepared today are accurate, transparent and free from wrongful deletions. Past election victories cannot guarantee today's voter lists are error-free. 2. Who was responsible for Congress's 98 electoral defeats before Gyanesh Kumar became CEC? Gyanesh Kumar was appointed Election Commissioner on 15 March 2024 and became CEC on 19 February 2025. He was part of the Commission during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and several Assembly elections. Why conveniently ignore his earlier tenure? Accountability cannot begin only when someone gets a bigger designation. 3. Why does Congress accept EVM victories but question EVMs when it loses? Accepting an election result does not mean accepting that every aspect of the electoral process is beyond scrutiny. The Supreme Court's April 2024 judgment on EVMs and VVPATs addressed safeguards and verification. Transparency and independent scrutiny are legitimate democratic demands, regardless of who wins. 4. Were previous intensive revisions also illegal? The existence of previous revisions does not automatically establish that every procedure followed today is lawful. Each exercise must comply with the Representation of the People Act, 1950, applicable rules and due-process safeguards. The legality of the present SIR must be examined on its own merits. 5. What explains Congress's electoral failures in different states? Congress winning or losing elections is not the question here. The Election Commission's responsibility is to ensure free, fair and transparent elections, irrespective of which party wins. Whether Congress wins or loses in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh or elsewhere does not answer questions about voter deletions, EVM safeguards, electoral-roll accuracy or the Commission's accountability. Why are you discussing Congress's political fortunes instead of answering questions about the Election Commission's functioning? The fundamental question remains: Will the Election Commission publish transparent, verifiable deletion data and explain the reasons for every disputed removal? Protecting every eligible citizen's right to vote is more important than winning a political argument.
