We initiated a plan to deepen the Canadian supply chain in every energy project we lead.
As we start construction on Pickering Nuclear Generating Station, we also announced over $3 billion in contracts to Canadian businesses, including @atkinsrealis and @AeconGroupInc.
That means more of the materials and components are leveraging Ontario's supply chain and Canadian businesses.
A win-win-win for our industrial base, workers, and economic sovereignty.

The previous Liberal government planned to shut Pickering down. We chose to rebuild it, protecting 4,500 existing workers, creating 30,500 more jobs, and extending this critical infrastructure for decades to deliver up to 2,200 megawatts of clean, reliable power for 2.2 million homes.
And we’re building on @opg’s proven record at Darlington: delivering major nuclear refurbishments ahead of schedule, and under budget.

Starting construction on the Pickering refurbishment is a significant milestone for Ontario’s nuclear sector and for our province’s economic and energy security.
