I’m a collector of simple phrases, mostly one-line statements of wisdom that encapsulate something important about how to live. Here are a few I carry around with me, that have shaped how I see the world.

Unpopular opinion: the people getting the most out of AI are the ones who could do the work without it.

I still believe in having a positive vision for the future. Today, this feels like a most revolutionary act.

This!
Might be just me and my time spent in industry, might be the vibe of the times, but I find myself much more impressed by projects that make things smaller, cleaner, more elegant rather than larger and more distributed. Less code, less PRs, less text. Good compression is an art.

We are making Markdown files work natively across Google Drive and Docs. You can now preview .md files in Drive, open them in Docs, edit them, comment on them, and collaborate without converting the file into a Google Doc!

TFW you get a message from your son’s coach, out of the blue, about what a fine young man he’s growing into. And, it’s even better when you hear this from the girl-moms on his soccer team — that their daughters think a lot of your 11 yr old boy.

—dangerously-skip-permissions. It’s how I roll.
I hate when my AI’s ask me for permission. Yes dude. Get in there and fuck shit up. I do not care at all.

As a leader, it's so tempting to reward the team members who always do what you ask. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to cultivate the right kind of disagreeableness on your team and to be sure those people have a voice -- however inconvenient.

Perfect.
If AI is risky like fire is risky, then you want everyone to have it. If AI is risky like a nuclear weapon is risky, then you want no one to have it.

Kentucky’s EV charging network is growing. We now have 18 fast-charging stations open across the commonwealth, with 11 more under construction. We’re building the infrastructure Kentuckians and visitors need to travel safely today and for generations to come.

I rewatched Landman Season 2 this week. I feel like I could write tomes of social commentary on the family, professional, relational, and sibling dynamics in this season. There’s SO. MUCH. THERE.

Oh. And the gender dynamics, especially in the Norris family. Wowza!!!

My daughter turns 25 today. If you do the math, you’ll realize she was born on a tumultuous day. Today is a day of great grief for so many. For me, it’s also a day of celebration. Joy and grief commingled — so much of the substance of the human experience.

What’s the etiquette when someone directly to the back and right of you is repeatedly coughing before a transatlantic flight even takes off? Asking for friend.

I never thought I’d see a day where the word “datacenter” becomes a pejorative.
