Reform trying to spin council by-elections 🤔 Here are some more accurate figures 👇 Council by-election wins since 16 September: 🔵 Conservatives: 12 🔴 Labour: 10 🟠 Lib Dems: 4 🟦 Reform: 2
Reform UK recorded a resounding 31.2% vote share across yesterday’s by-elections, way ahead of both Labour and the Tories. Britain wants Reform. 🇬🇧

✍️ @KemiBadenoch is clearly not interested in their opinion! Prejudice is a child of ignorance, William Hazlitt.
Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has told Good Morning Britain that ‘racist attacks’ on her are ‘not going to work’, after a former aide to Nigel Farage called her a ‘Nigerian scammer’. Former UKIP adviser Raheem Kassam posted a series of tweets attacking Mrs Badenoch at the weekend. When Reform UK’s Robert Jenrick was asked about the attacks by Ranvir and Paul, he said it wasn't his place to police what people write online. #politics #conservatives #reformuk

Kemi Badenoch absolutely nailed it in the Commons today. Under Labour, taxes are up, borrowing pressures are mounting, debt interest is swallowing billions, and families and businesses are paying the price. Labour simply cannot escape the consequences of its economic decisions: Inflation: UP. Government spending: UP. Debt interest: UP. Mortgage rates: UP. Unemployment: UP. Welfare spending: UP. Under Labour, Britain is heading for the highest tax burden in its history and precious little growth. @KemiBadenoch exposed the sheer scale of Labour's economic failure, and the Government benches clearly didn't enjoy hearing it. A brilliant performance. Watch this. 👇
Is that it? John Healey had a big job to do cleaning up Labour’s mess. This Budget fails to do it. Britain is overspent, overborrowed and overtaxed. This Budget does not come close to meeting the moment. My full response👇

Oxford Street is changing TODAY!🚶‍♀️ One of London’s busiest shopping streets is taking a major step towards becoming pedestrian-friendly, with almost a kilometre of the road going car-free between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street🛍️✨ The first phase of the transformation is expected to be completed by spring 2027, marking the beginning of a whole new era for Oxford Street. 📍Oxford Street #OxfordStreet #LondonNews #LondonUpdates #LondonLife #ThingsToDoInLondon

Burnham and Healey are gambling that they will get another chance to do a big budget. But they may look back on this as the best opportunity they had. There are, to my mind, three possible explanations for their approach. One is that they would rather not level with their MPs and the country now. The argument goes that they will be in a better place to confront the trade-offs next autumn. But political capital is a depreciating asset. The second is that they are doing a Mr Micawber, hoping something will turn up to improve the public finances. That could be faster-than-expected growth or a big reduction in government borrowing costs. Either is always possible, but look around the world and you will see the opposite is expected. The other possibility is that they are planning an early election. That would push the reckoning beyond polling day, giving them more flexibility. As I know all too well, elections are never risk-free. The problem is that Wednesday’s budget, and the IMF’s praise for Britain, are founded on fantasy - the idea that the Labour Party will accept the tight spending limits that are meant to kick in as the next election approaches. My preference would be for a budget that cut spending, reduced business taxes and enacted growth-enhancing supply-side reform. Yet with his party in no mood for cuts, you can see why Healey is likely to avoid doing anything too bold on Wednesday. They will never have more room for manoeuvre than now. I know, having done both jobs, that you regret the decisions you don’t take far more than the ones you do. More on the budget in my @thetimes column today 👇 thetimes.com/comment/columni…
