I was glad to join a panel discussion at the Inter-University Mental Health Symposium at @VUKampala to reflect on how we can move beyond awareness and build university communities where students can find support when they need it most.
One thing I believe deeply is that we cannot keep telling young people to speak up if we have not built systems that know what to do when they do. A listening ear matters, but so does knowing where to turn, who will step in, and whether the person will receive the help they need.
Thank you to my fellow panelists for such a meaningful conversation and to @KeanPinnosy29 for turning a conversation with his peer experiencing mental health challenges into something much bigger. There is something powerful about allowing another person’s experience to inspire action that could make a difference in many other lives.. Well done my friend!
Let us address mental health..,the rising suicidal thoughts among young people and the few we have already lost , what is the cause of this alarm & how do we overcome? statistics has it ,among 5, 1 is battling a mental health situation🥺 be kind! @MinofHealthUG @Educ_SportsUg
