I started with an idea.
Then something happened… Here’s what we’ve built since.

At the #WorldFoodDay2026 celebration in Gatsibo, the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Hon. Dr. @T_Ndabamenye emphasized that achieving sustainable food security requires innovation, collective responsibility and preparedness for climate change.
Under the theme “Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow,” the Minister called on farmers and livestock keepers to strengthen climate-resilient agricultural practices, increase productivity and take proactive measures to safeguard food production.
He urged farmers to:
- Maximize crop production through proper fertilization, weeding and effective pest and disease control.
- Harvest and conserve rainwater for irrigation and livestock use.
- Plan ahead for post-harvest management and access to markets.
- Enroll in crop and livestock insurance, with Government providing a 40% subsidy.
- Invest in livestock feeding, including planting fodder, ensuring access to clean water and preventing animal diseases.
The Minister further highlighted that food security goes beyond having enough food; it also means ensuring access to nutritious and balanced diets. He called for continued planting and proper care of fruit trees, particularly in schools, to promote better nutrition among children and communities.
He concluded by appreciating development partners, the private sector, farmers and livestock keepers for their contribution to Rwanda's food security, urging everyone to strengthen their efforts towards a more productive, resilient and food-secure Rwanda.
