Online citizen science platforms like iNaturalist and Macaulay Library contain a wealth of images but are hard to search using text. We are looking for ideas so we can develop the next generation of AI models that can help users to better search these image collections.

The coral reef outside our lab is a playground. Who are the main microbial inhabitants and how microorganisms function in this ecosystem? Join @dakkaynak and us to find out
A few more days to apply and join us for the coolest Computer Vision and Ecology geek camp ever.
We had enough people reach out with requests to submit applications late that we have decided to extend our submission deadline to this Monday, April 1! We look forward to seeing everyone's applications!!

Excited to share our #ICCV2023 work SAGA 📖, the first adversarial geometric attack 😈 on 3D meshes. SAGA fools autoencoders ▶️◀️ to change the geometry of the reconstructed shape! 😱

Thrilled to share my first hierarchical model version! 🎉 In the image, a red deer was initially labeled as fallow deer but didn't quite meet the score threshold. It confidently ascended to the "cervid" category, gaining certainty. A leap forward in classification accuracy!🦌🔍

Here’s some wee 330 million year old crinoid ossicles that wonderfully illustrate their five-fold radial symmetry. Nature is awesome 🖤

ALT Landscape photo of an index finger with 5 small fossilised crinoid ossicles sitting on top. They are disc shaped and have star shaped holes in the centre. This is the lumen where the animals nervous system would have been housed. Crinoids are echinoderms and show five-fold (pentaradial) symmetry and they’re related to starfish and urchins etc. The background is out of focus leaves.

In the LLM-science discussion, I see a common misconception that science is a thing you do and that writing about it is separate and can be automated. I’ve written over 300 scientific papers and can assure you that science writing can’t be separated from science doing. Why? 1/18
