Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts (called a Voluntary Exit Offer) to roughly 60,000 employees. 
This was announced on October 26, 2026, via an internal memo and confirmed on Microsoft’s official blog by Chief People Officer Amy Coleman. Eligible employees in participating teams in the US, Canada, UK, and India (at level 70 and below) can take a time-limited voluntary exit with financial support and career resources. It covers about a quarter of Microsoft’s ~223,000-person workforce and expands an earlier 2026 voluntary retirement program.
In the next 24 months there will be an INSANE amount of jobs that just disappear INSTANTLY as AI scales at such a compounded pace that you’ll think it’s not even possible.
