Total Mag28 market capitalization:
~$36.5–37 trillion
This is based on the latest available market-cap figures for the Mag28 list:
Largest contributors: NVDA (~$5.25T), AAPL (~$5.06T), MSFT (~$3.95T), GOOGL (~$3.92T), AMZN (~$2.73T), TSM (~$2.27T), SPCX (~$2.05T), AVGO (~$1.63T), TSLA (~$1.61T), META (~$1.59T), and MU (~$1.05T).
*The remaining names (AMD, ASML, INTC, PLTR, ORCL, AMAT, LRCX, NFLX, ARM, CRWD, CRM, QCOM, ANET, NOW, PANW, SNPS, CDNS, etc.) add roughly another $6.5–7 trillion combined.
Mag28 recent performance summary:
The Mag28 group (expanded from Mag7) shows clear divergence. Year-to-date, Apple leads with roughly +28% gains, followed by Nvidia (~+13%), Microsoft and Amazon (mid-to-high single digits).
Alphabet is modestly positive, while Meta and especially Tesla lag (Tesla down ~17% YTD).
In the latest sessions, Tesla rebounded sharply (+4% on Oct 27), with Amazon, Alphabet, Apple, and Nvidia also higher.
Microsoft was flat to slightly down and Meta continued to pressure lower after earnings.
Broader semiconductor and AI infrastructure names in the Mag28 (e.g., TSMC, Broadcom, Micron) have generally outperformed on sustained AI demand, even as some hyperscalers face spending and cash-flow scrutiny.
Overall, leadership has rotated toward stronger AI beneficiaries while mega-cap internet names remain more mixed amid earnings and valuation concerns.
The worst has not arrived. Today’s breaches exploit familiar, neglected weaknesses; AI’s danger is finding new ways to attack.
Cybersecurity is now a race between machine-speed offence and human-speed defence.
Microsoft is offering buyouts to about 60,000 staff.
Five companies that could follow with AI-driven workforce cuts:
Accenture
Automation may reduce consulting and delivery roles.
Infosys
AI can shrink testing, support, and maintenance work.
TCS
Traditional IT-services headcount may face pressure.
Cognisant
Enterprise operations and BPO roles are automation-exposed.
Capgemini
Consulting delivery costs could be reduced through AI.
