Okay, so I'm working on my 3rd novel which is set in Australia in late 1984 I'm looking for any memories of that time - what stood out to you then - what was happening in Australian culture - slang that was used - any personal memories - whatever else you think might be relevant The best ones will get a character named after them (or they can choose a character name if they want to remain anon) Characters so far are: - multi-millionaire mining magnate (M) - Sth Aust Liberal senator (F) - ex-cop, private bodyguard for mining magnate (F) - ex-Vietnam veteran turned recluse (M) - local bush mechanic/Jack of all trades (M) - wealthy socialite, ex-wife of mining magnate (F) Thanks so much, and please share if 1984 isn't your thing 🙏🏽 xx

Starting to get the feeling that Dave Hughes might be a cunt. 🤔
I just found a tweet from former Dan Andrews MP John Kennedy member for Hawthorn, titled ‘Message to Dave Hughes’ in which he waves the white flag in an X war he started with me and continued relentlessly. In the message in which he didn’t tag me in, and I appear not to be able to quote tweet or even screenshot and post, he claims he’s stopping the ‘war’ in which, he wrote, was initially harmless fun, actually it started with him viciously trolling me, but he will end it now, because I’m ‘in a dark place.’ Or is it because people told him he looks ridiculous? Yesterday he told a concerned Victorian motorcyclist, who questioned John about the state of our roads, after years of chronic underfunding, that he doesn’t care that he’s a motorcyclist and he can piss off. Obviously John wanted the last word on this saga but sorry mate, the people have had enough PR bullshit from current or former politicians. No grudges from me though, I just hope John has a lot of Vic Labor MP’s join him in retirement come Nov 28.

Dave is not a real person. This account is an ai generated x bot programmed to attack progressive and left wing profiles based on certain social and political issues. Just spent 4 days at a national tech safety conference with experts from the US and NZ and all over Australia. X is being flooded with these type of accounts.

Dave, didn’t you receive unemployment benefits for years after leaving uni? I’m not saying you shouldn’t have. I don’t know your circumstances. But "snouts in trough since they left uni” is ungenerous and a tad hypocritical from someone who benefited from the social safety net.

The entry is showing promise. It requires a couple of paragraphs about poorly informed celebrities torching their careers, whilst disseminating lies for vested interests. They would provide clearer context for DH’s failure. #Auspol #SloppyShills #Hughes

Why not deal with what Paul actually said, Dave? If you think it’s wrong, identify the error and make the argument. You’ve become the deranged bloke who knows the least but says the most.

That's okay, Dave. These things happen. One minute you're going about your evening, the next you're sitting with Gina Rinehart's right-hand PR man. A cautionary tale for us all.

This is rubbish. The blast furnace died because it was 65 years old and Sanjeev Gupta ripped millions out of Australia. And who let him in? Liberal PM Malcolm Turnbull and Industry Minister Arthur Sinodinos who hugged Gupta in Whyalla and called him a ‘Great Australian’.
Labor just sentenced 600 Whyalla workers to the scrapheap. The blast furnace is dead. The $500 million green hydrogen fantasy the Premier bet his entire re-election on has collapsed, and ordinary South Australians are the ones paying for it in lost jobs and wasted taxes. This is what happens when Labor puts virtue-signalling ideology ahead of real industry and real people in regional Australia. They’re good at ribbon-cutting and photo ops. They’re hopeless at keeping steelworkers employed. One Nation has been saying this for years: stop gambling taxpayers’ money on green pipe dreams that destroy jobs. Put Australian workers and Australian industry first. Labor failed Whyalla. #onenation #paulinehanson #australia

I think I’ve worked out why The Australia Institute gets under your skin, Dave. They publish awkward facts like this: 81% of the revenue forgone through the CGT discount you so love goes to the top 10% of income earners. People like you, Dave. The IPA, meanwhile, has Gina Rinehart as its biggest donor and paid your new bestie Jess Wilson’s husband, Aaron Lane, to argue against mandatory penalty rates. A photo of him doing so on 'IPA TV' is below - whatever that is. I shudder to think. So you’re furious with the people pointing out tax benefits flowing to the most wealthy, but remarkably relaxed about the people arguing to pay workers less. Less tax for people like Dave. Less pay for the lowest paid workers. The man-of-the-people act is getting a bit tired isn't it?

How appropriate #BurnoutBarnaby, whose party worked for yrs to weaken #Aust gun laws, relies on gun metaphor, to make his dodgy case. He’s no leader. He’s the soft brained alcoholic, recruited by #Hanson’s handler to snow dummies w/ unsupported nonsense. The burnout lies.#GunNation
Here is the full clip of the Barnaby Joyce bullet comment. Stephen Jones says the violent language has no place in our political culture, especially a fortnight after the Donald Trump assassination attempt. Joyce has conceded the metaphor "wasn't appropriate". #auspol

The ABC had two options once One Nation barred them: First, show some spine and don't showcase ON. Second, showcase them and give Barnaby a constant platform. The ABC was once brave, now a pack of ratings-chasing cowards.

Hughes is now an economics expert. And every credible economist in the world is wrong. I presume Dopey Dave is now just engaging in clickbait for profit now?
