For the first time in US history, a gay man, a Black woman, a Muslim, Native American woman, Palestinian, and Latina have won their respective midterm elections.
Morning lovely anon! Itβs a tricky question. The truth is when I originally did Oceania it was released as a WIP and a combination of fest commitments getting in the way and a lukewarm reaction ended up making me lose the love of it.
But, since then Iβve definitely been tempted to pick it up again, rewrite some of the clunky parts and restructure it a bit, and then finish it off. My story plan for it is fun and so yes, Iβd like to finish it.
The trouble at the moment is that Iβm finding motivation difficult for writing fanfic in general. The toxicity of both the fandom and fanfic spaces is really upsetting and is making me consider moving on because I love writing but itβs not worth seeing constant berating of fanfic writers or AI slop becoming accepted and even loved.
My vague plan at the moment is to finish four of the five fics I have sitting half written π, and then probably bow out and find another outlet for writing and community. Oceania is one of the four, but I canβt make any promises at this point.
I should probably carry on writing this but Iβm finding motivation tough in the current fanfic climate! π©

y'all make it so difficult to agree with even your somewhat valid takes regarding ao3 authors because of how rude and callous you are towards them. i've never seen people be so casually dismissive of any art form as they are of fanfiction. it's genuinely demoralizing.
Iβm starting to wish there was a way I could restrict my fics to the people who actually value writers and stories and enjoy interacting and showing appreciation and just generally not being pricks. I know there are so many of you, but Iβm seeing so much nastiness directed at writers who just want a bit of simple kindness. Since when did that become a sin?
The one thing I will say is that if a writer asks you to take their work off your public drives you should fucking well respect that and stop being a lil bitch about it. That is all.
Listen I love it and it was hilarious but can you imagine the self confidence (ahem) you have to have to tell your band theyβre all dressing as you for Halloween? The narcissism is off the scale π Still, I suppose when youβre Harry Styles you can get away with it π
