People don’t fear change, they fear loss. Of what they know, of what is comfortable. Being comfortable with being uncomfortable is the sweet spot
The truest form of privilege is to be born with a desire for constant change. Most people find change uncomfortable. But in the modern world, becoming wealthy and happy depends on embracing constant change and growth. If you naturally enjoy change, count your blessings!

Started reading Kahneman’s “Thinking Fast and Slow” and I think this is interesting particularly re chapter on The Lazy Controller I just got to (spoiler: we’re inclined to conserve cognitive effort and our willingness to think depends on motivation/incentives) Thinking requires effort and our minds are always negotiating how much of it we’re willing to spend from the mental energy bank. Maybe AI’s strongest retention dynamic won’t be entertainment or indispensability but our growing preference not to expend the effort ourselves. Not only because agents do said tasks reliably (will increasingly do so) but because they remove the cognitive and emotional burden of having to think, make a minutiae of decisions and manage uncertainty ourselves. Also, dependency doesn't instantly come from indispensability, it can slowly start with the incremental loss of our willingness to do something ourselves. Which then ofc brings up the question: are we outsourcing cognition to free up capacity for deeper/creative thinking or just outsourcing the need to think at all🙃
i've been talking to a lot of normal ppl outside of tech about personal agents & the convos have been incredibly fascinating, particularly w.r.t. to retention. most consumer products typically have one of two types of retention, one is desire driven which is just pure dopamine (like insta, tiktok, games). they often don't even need notifications because you know there is a reward for your desire always waiting. the second is dependency driven, like emails, calendars, even credit cards & banking. most ppl have to do this, it's not something they necessarily desire (unless they are a sociopath). the challenge with personal ai agents right now is that they occupy a weird third space where they aren't emotionally rewarding most of the time to become entertainment like the first category, & they're not reliable / indispensable enough to become pure infra. i.e. they fail, & there is a lot of friction. outside of pure research driven tasks, even one failure is often enough to not come back for the utility value prop. which is why i think vertical agents that focus on making your life more interesting & entertaining are worth deep exploration still. & even very focused vertically integrated utility agents that work reliably will still be in demand. tons of ppl still think in jobs to be done when reaching for anything & with general purpose agents that's just not as crisp yet on what those critical jobs are.

We need to move away from what i call “launch slop” Fast cuts, black and white, historical film, rocket ships. Clips of some philosopher talking. It was cool when founders fund did it. Now it looks like shit. Every YC company has the same video. We need a new aesthetic.

Yubikeys are by far the faster and most secure way to do login and two factor authentication today, by FAR. It's true that UX along platforms does not make it easy, but the TLDR is: - Get at least 2 new yubikeys, if you get three better. - Check that the firmware is at least 5.7.x - Set them to require PIN mandatory - Disable the modes you are not gonna use like TOTP - Use them with the FIDO2 mode enabled (that's basically putting a passkey inside a yubikey) - This way, you have phishing resistant login and 2fa and no risk of cloud totp apps. Yubikeys are great, but their customer support is not great, I would say if you have any question, let us know, we research them a lot from @opsek_io You also have our guide here: github.com/Opsek/Yubikeys-ch…

You shouldn't need special wallets or a PhD in applied cryptography to send funds privately onchain. Payment requests with @0xprivacypools v2 make everyday financial transactions easy and private.
🔒 Introducing private payment requests on Privacy Pools V2. Create a request. Share a URL. Get paid privately. Anyone can send me $20 privately using the link in the tweet below 👇

Privacy Pools v2 is now live. v1 proved that compliant privacy works onchain. v2 turns it into a complete private payment system: transfers, requests, swaps, and yield, all while remaining compliant and self-custodial. Here's what's new in v2 ↓

three stories about times that i FUMBLED THE BAG (maybe you can relate) 1. Steve Jobs used my song to open a press conference. 2. I made a jingle for AirBnB when they were pre-funding in 2008. 3. I made (and lost) $2.4 million selling my songs as NFTs.

Charles Schwab has completed its rollout of direct ethereum:native trading. All clients can now access Schwab Crypto, CEO Rick Wurster said at the firm’s Fall Business Update yesterday. Clients can also begin transferring existing crypto holdings in. @CharlesSchwab at a glance: → $13.33 trillion in client assets as of 30 September → 40.26 million active brokerage accounts ETH is one of only two assets Schwab chose to open with, along with Bitcoin. Ethereum is the home of onchain finance.

The problem of our time is not merely information overload. It is that the time required to construct a coherent understanding of reality is becoming longer than the time during which that understanding remains valid.

For those who missed it this week: new @_humanprotocol episode with @scupytrooples is out and it's a good one. Give it a listen 👇
Episode 14 is out: The Anonymous Alchemist with @scupytrooples of @AlchemixFi It's a conversation of both breadth and depth starting with his leap from teaching through to early Ethereum, DeFi, a fast-growing team and a project that reached more than $500M in TVL within about two months of launch. But growth brings intense pressure: security worries, team conflict and burnout. We cover leadership, authenticity in the space, co-founder conflict, anonymity and security, chronic pain and how therapy, physical therapy and time away helped him recover - all revealing the realities of creating frontier tech we seldom honestly share and underscoring the importance of taking care of ourselves and others doing the building: @scupytrooples: "one of my non-negotiables now is just take care of yourself, take care of each other and you can take care of the place by doing so.” Full conversation: youtu.be/29IWDvAdHrU?si=ZP1d…

really enjoyed this convo as it reminded me how far my project and I have come despite the difficulties and challenges along the way. my founder’s journey is coming full circle, and the worst is most certainly over.

The disempowered once empowered often end up worse the prior oppressors. Power is a drug. The hungry will devour it. Power vacuums, collapse to power structure quickly, and often not very nice ones.
The people most comfortable with distributed power (and thus ambiguity) may be the least inclined to personally fill a power vacuum. But if power has historically felt scarce, inaccessible or held over you, the impulse to seize it when it finally becomes available could be almost overwhelming (as seen time and time (and time) again) Which means decentralised systems may carry their own recentralising force. And it’s not because decentralisation doesn’t work but because none of us enter these systems with a psychologically neutral relationship to power. And power hates a vacuum… Maybe decentralisation is less a state we achieve and more a tension we consciously manage between our ideals and our very personal relationship with power and how we define it.

OK, we spent a while @rebellion_sys building authensee.com, to then build trustgraph.rebellion.systems (a private, ZK reboot of PGP's web-of-trust) and realizing that we have a distribution problem. So now we've built doitrustthis.com. A free service that uses all the latest bells and whistles to actually help you if you are not a security or privacy freak. Point anything at it, forward an email, tag it on insta or tiktok and get back a trust score and maybe some warnings on what to do next. And if you're feeling adventurous, install the TrustGraph app (you can get a TestFlight invite on the website) and start signing shit today! Also I am EAGER to get feedback from early testers. So, please DM me or @vqlqx if you think "this is cool, but..."

Roughly 7 in 10 onchain euros are on Ethereum mainnet.
Euro stablecoins just surpassed $900M in market cap Ethereum leads with $644M, followed by Solana at $122M and Base at $59M Ethereum still accounts for ~71% of the market, but euro stablecoins are now deployed across a growing number of chains
