One year ago today, @Halo announced Campaign Evolved. There was a lot which it was "just getting started". It was a fun project to learn Unreal on, and how to stitch two engines together to play to their strengths. A best of both worlds.

In 2016, we published potentially the largest single feature to ever appear in a printed issue of Game Informer magazine with a full oral history of the legendary studio, BioWare.
We've made that feature available online and free for the first time following reports of the studio's impending closure. gameinformer.com/feature/202…

Our next piece of swag has arrived, the Halo Community Social coin - a reward for all our fantastic backers. We will have a few spares to hand out during the social if you didn't have a chance to back the Kickstarter.

Halo Fest isn't canceled and neither are we! With the changes to the Halo franchise, we're changing things up a bit and refocusing our event as a celebration of Halo's legacy.
We're making some key changes to reallocate funding to the LAN activities by cutting the ping pong and foosball tables and the Let's build areas. If people in the local Seattle area want to lend their tables, we will gladly accept that for the evening and complement you with a meal on your ticket.
Speaking of tickets, we've worked with the venue to identify more spaces we can utilize to make this the largest Community-run Halo LAN party! All goes well and we'll have tickets listed next week.
We are looking for people to bring your own console or PC to add more to the fun. If you have modded OG Xboxes, Xbox 360s, Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X, or even spare controllers and screens to bring, please reach out to us!
And you bet we're seeing all the fantastic Halo projects that have popped up over the last couple of days and we're already looking at a few of them being present at the Social!

Been messing around a bit with the Halo CE decomp as a proof of concept with running in house lan parties, it is incredibly easy and convenient to set this up, definitely wanna do more testing since there was some FPS issues but overall very cool =) – at Boca Raton, FL
Halo has lost one of its best 💔
Thank you.
To the Halo community.
Thank you for your relentless passion, feedback, and support. It was a pleasure and a privilege to represent you over the last 11 years.
Whether it was meeting you in-person at events, troubleshooting issues with you online, talking to you on broadcasts, checking out your Forge creations, or sharing your constructive criticism to push for change - I truly loved it.
Your voices have helped shape the best aspects of our games. Without each of you, Halo would not be the same.
To my teammates.
Thank you for always hearing me out and letting me push for more. Whether I was asking your team to make a pivot or fix one more bug before a release, you all trusted that it would be the right call. Collaborating with so many bright people across nearly every discipline was such a unique and rewarding part of this role.
It was also an honor to have your support while leading the Gameplay Team for the last two years of Halo Infinite. I was humbled - but not the least bit surprised - that so many of you rallied to ship impactful features and community-requested updates, which ultimately brought the game to a great place for our players.
Your talent and dedication never ceased to amaze, and it pushed me to do better every day. I will always be grateful for your partnership, mentorship, and friendship.
Although I’ll be moving on to different work, I’m excited for the future of Halo and I can’t wait to experience its next steps alongside all of you.
Thank you for everything.

regardless of any gossip, reclaimers was lightning in a bottle and folks like farn and postums have my respect for making it happen. to me its what any community group should strive to be in transparency and human interactions with devs. afaik it was never matched in 343/hs.

The Game Business summary on Xbox Game Studios
“It’s divested of Double Fine (Psychonauts) Compulsion (South of Midnight) and Undead Labs (South of Midnight), which have all been returned to independence. At one point, Undead Labs was being acquired by UK developer Splash Damage (Gears Tactics), which is funded by Emona Capital (Emona also funds UK publisher Secret Mode and Canadian developer Relic). But that deal didn’t complete.”
“The fourth studio is Ninja Theory. It also had two buyers at one point, but both deals fell through. I know two investors that looked at Ninja Theory, and they both told me the cost of the team was high, which ultimately deterred them.”
“UK law means that Ninja Theory isn’t being closed today. However, staff are being put on consultation, which gives Xbox around six weeks to secure a new home for the Cambridge-based team. I am told its next game, Senua, is “A significant step-up on Hellblade 2”, so fingers crossed it finds someone.”
“The fifth studio Xbox is divesting from is Arkane Lyon. The consultation on that studio extends to the end of the year.”
“Rare is behind Sea of Thieves. The pirate game has been a decent success, but it has been declining over the last few years. In 2025, Rare’s Everwild project was cancelled, which led to some redundancies. However, the studio was able to mitigate that by cutting back on outsourcing, and moving staff onto Sea of Thieves. As a result of its Activision move, there have been a few cuts to Rare’s central operations team. The studio is working on other projects.”
“In 2002, Nintendo owned 49% of the studio and had the option to take the remaining 51%. It declined to do that, triggering a bidding war. By the end, two companies remained in for Rare. One of those companies was, of course, Xbox. The other? Activision.”
“In terms of Obsidian, there is some unhappiness that it’s becoming part of Bethesda. Some of the team feel they’ve lost the autonomy and freedom that they were promised. But the games it released last year, although good quality, didn’t perform as hoped. And the chance to stay together and work on a major IP like Fallout might, in time, be viewed as a positive outcome.”
“The biggest story is, of course, Activision taking over Halo. This is less about cutting costs and more about getting Halo moving again. Halo was once one of the world’s leading shooters. The 2007 release of Halo 3 was the biggest entertainment launch of all time back then. Today, it is a shadow of that.”

It’s been an honor serving the competitive Halo community from @HCS for the last 8 years.
This franchise has been a part of my life since the day I touched Halo 3, and I’m just grateful I ever had the chance to contribute.
But today, my watch has ended.

My Lord.
@JoeBiden, 83 years old, battling Stage 4 cancer that has spread to his bones, stood for HOURS alongside @DrBiden as the names of 9/11 victims were read.
Donald Trump fell asleep at the 9/11 event at the Pentagon.
One showed respect despite his pain. The other couldn't even stay awake.
Trump is an embarrassment to the nation and the office he holds.
Really says it all.

While talk of Halo's future is certainly very exciting, I'm aware that it's fanciful and that I doubt Asha really gives a shit.
Also, Halo MUST be built by a local team together, not outsourced around the globe to a group that has ZERO investment in making something great.
