On Christmas Eve during WWII, two brothers fleeing Hungary split paths. One returned home; the other pushed on to a French refugee camp. They never saw each other again.
Eighty years later, their great-grandchildren finally reunited the family in Paris. So blessed.

It wasn't safe 2 years ago, when Tori was sheltering there. I was all nerves as there was nothing I could do; everything was on Richard and Ksenia. Thank you from Tori and me.

๐ IN MEMORY OF JESSE ADAMS โ A TRUE HERO FOR ANIMALS ๐
It is with enormous sadness that we have learned of the tragic death of Jesse Adams, founder of RainCoast Dog Rescue Society in Canada, who lost his life while carrying out an animal rescue mission in one of the most dangerous areas of Ukraine.
Jesse dedicated his life to saving animals, even when it meant putting his own life at risk.
We first came to know Jesse in 2021, when Afghanistan fell to the Taliban. Jesse and RainCoast were among the extraordinary organisations that came together to assist KSAR with the evacuation of 285 cats and dogs, helping many find loving forever homes.
Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Jesse travelled to the border to help fleeing families and their pets, providing veterinary care, supplies and assistance getting animals to safety.
He returned repeatedly, undertaking increasingly dangerous missions.
Most recently, Jesse worked alongside Animal Rescue Kharkiv, rescuing hundreds of animals from devastated frontline communities under constant threat from drones, missiles and artillery.
These were extraordinary acts of compassion and courage in the face of unimaginable danger.
Jesse knew the risks. He knew every mission could be his last. Yet he continued because he believed animals caught in conflict deserved protection just as much as those living in peace.
Those of us working in animal rescue in conflict zones understand and accept these risks. But few possess the courage to repeatedly travel towards danger when everyone else is trying to escape it.
Jesse was one of those very special people.
His death is a devastating loss to his family, friends, RainCoast and the international animal rescue community.
Our hearts go out to everyone who knew and loved him, particularly the Ukrainian rescuers who worked alongside him.
His legacy lives on in every animal he saved and every rescuer he inspired.
Rest in peace, Jesse. The world has lost an extraordinary human being, and the animals have lost a true champion. ๐พ๐
With love and deepest respect,
Louise and everyone at War Paws

The word is a weapon!
We continue to fight for the freedom of Ukraine; we continue to speak the truth.
Truth possesses one unsurpassed quality: it does not fade with timeโit will make itself heard even centuries laterโthough right now, it is extremely difficult for it to compete with tons of purchased Muscovite lies!
Glory to #Ukraine! Thank you for being here, friends!๐ซถ

It is important to understand that the Americans are not alone in this election. The fact is that there are three players involved: the Democrats, the Republicans, and Vladimir Putin. The fate of the Russian dictator is also at stake in this election; he is counting on Donald Trump continuing to rule with unlimited powers. Stay alert.

Torontonians go to the polls today to elect our mayor.
Olivia Chow is the current mayor, with a long track record of things she's already accomplished for our city, and promises of more to come.
Brad Bradford is an idiot.
Please choose wisely, Toronto.

I I have been germed. Iโve made the call to keep going, but weโll see. Itโs not a terrible day - 20 km. Tomorrow is the 30+ day. So I wonโt push hard today and obviously will not do tomorrow if Iโm not feeling up to it, but Iโm getting close to the end with 109 km left and Ukrainians donโt have the luxury of just staying in bed because theyโre sick so I will continue. So utterly depressing, hedgehogs are hurtling towards extinction on OUR watch, and only a few wildlife lovers care... paved gardens, plastic 'lawns', chopped down trees & hedges.. having a lifeless, no effort to manage, outdoor space is all that matters to the lazy & selfish..๐
