Congrats to our very own Doug Kinkoph for being selected for the FCBA Excellence in Government Service Award! This recognition is incredibly well deserved. Doug’s leadership has been vital to NTIA’s success in broadband policy, and I am deeply grateful to be his colleague.
Great week in Geneva! @ArielleRothNTIA & her team built support for @ITUSecGen Doreen Bogdan-Martin’s bid for re-election, convened important bilats with key countries in advance of WRC27, and spoke at Council to urge for key protections in the host country agreement with China.

The “unserved” sites D.C. wanted taxpayers to subsidize:
• Shed along train tracks
• Open field
• Catholic University field house
• Pepco utility facility
• Construction trailer next to visible fiber
After our review, D.C. acknowledged no locations required federal $.

NEW @WSJopinion piece:
How two hours, snow boots, & basic oversight turned a $4M broadband project into $0.
D.C. asked @NTIAgov for $4M to connect just 55 “unserved” locations.
That’s $70K each in one of the most broadband-dense cities in America.🚩
Something didn’t add up.🧵

Here’s an example of what I mean. When my parents moved to Parsons, Kansas in 1977, they knew literally nobody and had virtually nothing as they hadn’t started working. A local family helped us out. They helped us move into our house (in a rainstorm, I remember). The mom took care of me and my sister a few times when my parents had to work. I can still hear their dad talking to me about Paul Harvey and bailing hay and why America was a great place. Their son, who was my age, became my best friend from elementary school on (a captain of the football team, he made a point to be at my high school violin recital at a certain social cost to him!).
Yesterday, I visited with Mrs. Bowen at her house—the same one they moved into in 1981, the one where they introduced me to chicken and biscuits and jello salad, the one where her son and I played pickup basketball in the driveway, the one where a group of friends said goodbye and scattered to the wind after high school graduation.
As our visit ended yesterday and my kids and I got ready to go, she emphasized that I would always have a home at the Bowen residence. “You’re family. You always were and you always will be”—almost 50 years after they made my family feel at home.
That’s America to me. 🇺🇸

President Trump is exactly right.
America must continue to lead the world in wireless. Doing so is vital to our economic growth and national security.
This will be a big win for the country! 🇺🇸

Bruh, @tiktok_us had years to secure American data or take the company public/divest — you chose to do neither
Instead you’ve been caught spying on Americans and refuse to let American companies participate in your market.
