I wanted to have runner’s legs. Woke up one morning and just went out without thinking much of it.Participated in a race 10 days later. Attempted to improve my 5k time afterwards. I’m caught up now. Lol. I don’t even think my legs look like I run still; and I’m not fast either 😂
You people that usually run how did you start?

Efetobore Timilehin Tega-Taire, a 21-year-old final-year anthropology student at the University of Ibadan (UI), can no longer see with either eye, and his father is struggling to raise N15.92 million for surgeries that doctors say could restore his sight. Timilehin, who was preparing for his final examinations and sign-out ceremony in November, has had problems with his eyesight for about five years. However, his condition recently worsened, leading to further medical interventions at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. Lucky Tega-Taire, his father who lives in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, told FIJ that the family had been referred to Skipper Eye-Q Super Specialty Eye Hospitals in Victoria Island, Lagos, after UCH said it lacked the necessary equipment to treat him. According to Tega-Taire, the hospital has estimated the cost of surgery at N7.96 million per eye, leaving the family with a total bill of N15.92 million for both eyes. He said the family had raised only N1.5 million and was appealing to the public for help.

This man was always running or brisk walking round school and I loved to see him. He did it last year. Did it again this year.
An elderly man Steals Show At 17.5km Ikogosi Marathon. A septuagenarian, said to be between 75 and 80 years old, became the centre of attraction at the 17.5-kilometre marathon race held in Ikogosi, Ekiti State yesterday. Video footage from the event captured the elderly man, believed to be within the 75-80 age bracket, participating in the race despite his advanced age, drawing admiration from spectators and fellow runners. According to eyewitnesses at the venue, although his pace was slow but steady, his determination and resilience throughout the race were inspiring to many. In an earlier interview made available to newsmen, the septuagenarian stated that he participated in the marathon race to keep himself fit, just as he did last year. His participation has since generated reactions on social media, with many describing him as a source of motivation and proof that age is not a barrier to fitness and healthy living. The Ikogosi marathon, which covered a distance of 17.5 kilometres, attracted runners from different age groups and has continued to promote fitness, tourism and youth engagement in the state.

Prosper, I can take constructive advice. I have benefited from correction, mentorship and guidance throughout my education, and I remain willing to learn. However, your write-up makes confident claims about my work, motives and contributions without establishing the facts. Because you have addressed me publicly, I will clarify those points publicly. Your central argument, being that, academic ability should translate into something useful for others, is reasonable. I agree that excellent results alone do not establish everything about a person’s competence, character or eventual professional contribution. The problem begins when you move from that general observation to specific declarations that I have not helped others, have not shared how I learn, and have not built anything through which other students can benefit. Those are claims about my record. They require more than your impression of my timeline. Let me introduce you to some of the work you missed. 1. AUTHORSHIP AND LEARNING RESOURCES I authored Donye’s Destroying Anatomy, Volume 1. That involved taking knowledge acquired through my own study and organising it into a resource other students can learn from. It is a concrete example of the very thing you recommend: making academic experience useful beyond the person who earned the result. You can suggest ways to improve or expand that work. You cannot reasonably discuss my supposed failure to create learning resources while overlooking a resource I have already authored. 2. TEACHING I tutor Anatomy and Medical Microbiology. That means I spend time explaining concepts, answering questions and helping other students understand subjects in which I have earned distinctions. Teaching requires preparation, patience and the ability to communicate knowledge. It is work, and it is a contribution, whether or not every session appears on your timeline. 3. INTERNAL MEDICINE CRASH COURSES I have also started Internal Medicine crash courses on my YouTube channel, organising teaching around topics and units to help other students learn and revise. You suggested that I should create a platform through which people can benefit from my knowledge. Online teaching is already part of what I am doing. There is room to develop it further, as there is with any educational project. But something being capable of growth does not mean it does not exist. 4. MENTORSHIP I mentor junior colleagues and share academic guidance with students navigating medical school. The value of mentorship is not always captured by a public announcement. Sometimes it is a conversation, an explanation, a recommendation or helping someone approach a difficult stage of their training with greater clarity. I will not dismiss those interactions simply because they are less visible than a result post. 5. KNOWLEDGE SHARING THROUGH CONTENT I founded the DYK Instagram platform to share knowledge through content. Again, this is an example of deliberately communicating beyond my own examination preparation and immediate classroom. 6. PUBLIC HEALTH AND SOCIAL IMPACT I was selected as a Millennium Fellow in 2024. My fellowship project, The Onco-Aware Initiative, focused on cervical cancer awareness and prevention. My interests and contributions extend to community health as well as medical education. Helping other people pass examinations is one useful application of knowledge; health education and prevention are others. 7. ACADEMIC AND CAREER GUIDANCE I have received invitations to speak at academic orientation programmes and about pursuing cardiothoracic surgery. I take opportunities to share my experience seriously, while recognising that I am still learning and building my own career. Alongside those contributions, I am proud of the academic record I have worked for: • Fifteen As in fifteen subjects in my 2014 BECE. • Nine A1s in nine subjects in my 2017 WASSCE, emerging as the best WAEC candidate in Lagos State that year.
Donye has been complaining about academic excellence going unrecognised since Don Jazzy snubbed him during his giveaway giveaway a couple of days ago. People were posting their account details and achievements, hoping to get some attention from Don Jazzy. Donye quoted with screenshots of his distinctions in medical school, his great WAEC results. he was totally snubbed Perhaps he felt that his accomplishments deserved more recognition than he was already receiving. And, to be fair, academic excellence is something that should be recognised and rewarded. However, there is something Donye needs to understand: the value of academic excellence, at least in terms of public recognition, largely ends within the academic environment. You may be an exceptional scholar. People may admire you, give you money and celebrate your achievements. Some have done that for you already, and rightly so. But that recognition is not going to continue indefinitely. It is often short-lived. He is a rare scholar, but he is not the only one. Beyond the academic environment, you will discover that most people do not particularly care about his distinctions, WAEC scores or how many examinations he passed. There are young students who will admire him, look up to him, become his fanboys and act excited whenever they encounter him But outside these circles, his achievements may mean very little to people. And the reason is simple: he has not figured out how to convert those achievements into real value for other people. He is one of those students who have demonstrated exceptional academic ability, but I have not seen him build a system through which he can teach others how to achieve similar results. He has not shown people how he studies, how he approach difficult academic problems, the practical steps he takes and how he can help another student reproduce his results. That is where the opportunity lies. Donye, If you can take your academic experience, organise it into a practical system and help other students achieve the kind of academic excellence you have demonstrated, you can build an entire career around it. Think about it. Even if you receive all the recognition and financial rewards you desire today, those rewards will eventually run out. What happens afterwards? The real opportunity is to build something around your achievements: a platform, a programme, a learning system or a service that helps people who desire the same accomplishments. There are thousands of students who want to earn distinctions, excel in medical school and achieve outstanding WAEC results. You could build something that helps them get there. But most of what we see from you is flexing. I had this distinction. I got this score. I achieved this. I received that. I want this recognition. I deserve this reward. There is very little about the practical steps behind these achievements or how another person can benefit from your experience. And you cannot expect to make a sustainable living from simply announcing your accomplishments. This is also why Don Jazzy can overlook your achievements. He is a musician. He operates in an entirely different industry. He doesn't give two fucks about whether someone has a distinction in medical school. He probably doesn't even know what the distinction requirements are, let alone the pass mark. Your academic accomplishments are simply not what he is looking for when he gives out money. This is a problem I have noticed among many exceptionally brilliant students. They are very good at reading, very good at passing examinations and very good at accumulating academic achievements, but become almost useless when it comes to the workforce, economics and converting their knowledge into tangible value in the real world. You need to understand that being academically exceptional and being able to create value are two different things.

Ekiti? 3rd most literate state in NG (95.79%), lowest food inflation in 2025, IGR from 650m to 2.6bn, GDP doubled to 4.6trn, No.1 in fiscal transparency for 9 quarters. The real question is what is your state doing?. It’s how y’all always want to trend at the mention of Ekiti.

She’s correct. The APC’s strategy is hopelessness and it’s easy to wield it because they HAVE put us in a (seemingly) hopeless situation. But we must rise above it. 2027 #TinubuMustGo

This is no longer just a complaint. I started the race, and my bib number was recorded along the route. I reached the finish line, where officials collected my details and even gave me a medal. Now, after several hours, they’re claiming I joined halfway and was disqualified. Disqualified for what? Nobody informed me at the finish line! They posted a picture of another athlete without releasing the actual finishing video. The picture even shows a finishing line that wasn’t there when I arrived, something an official also confirmed. I’m demanding the full race footage, timing records, bib-number records and official finishing order. I competed fairly, and I will not accept being cheated or discredited. Let the evidence speak! @ikogosimarathon #ikogosimarathon
I’m still confused about what happened at the Ikogosi race. When I got to the finish line, I checked properly but didn’t meet anyone there apart from the officials. I even looked around the finishing area and the floor, but there was no sign that anyone had finished ahead of me. At least, if other runners had crossed before me, I expected to see them around. The officials asked me questions about myself, and I answered everything. They also collected my details and seemed surprised. They announced that the first 5 elite runners and the first 10 indigenous runners would be called, but when it was time to announce the results, only the first 3 runners were called. No explanation was given about the remaining positions. I honestly don’t know what happened or what position I finished in. I just want a clear explanation and transparent results. I believe every runner deserves that. @ikogosimarathon #ikogosimarathon
