When it comes to violence affecting young people it’s clear that without a trauma informed approach that respects the truth about poverty & inequality we are talking about sticking plasters. Lot of heavy lifting involved shifting a paradigm! @HopeCollective2 #SmartSocial

We will struggle to solve the issue of young people who are not in education, employment or training until we find the courage to overhaul our entire education system including the narrowness of its pedagogy, its assessment system & the misguided nature of its inspection system.

These are the conversations we need to have if we are to restore youth work to its pride of place as a vital front line service.
We need to demarcate policing and social care from youth work. Good old fashioned trusted adult youth work works #PublicHealth 💪

Great conversation today with @riofoundation leading. Discussing how traditional youth work values became marginalised by preoccupation with violence by funders.
We heard time and time again at Hope Hacks how young people felt stereotyped by the violence narrative #PublicHealth

Violence Reduction Units have helped prevent thousands of violent injuries.
A £66 million investment in twenty of these units will target the causes of violence through localised sport, education and deterrence programmes.
