🧨 Delighted to share our latest 💥experimental pain💥 study is now openly available in SJMSS!
We applied occlusions and measured MEP, SICI, and LICI during cycling strokes, and saw inhibition ⬆️ w/ contralateral pain but ⬇️ w/ ipsilateral pain.

Our Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation students have spent the weekend providing post-race massage support to @LondonMarathon runners. Over a full six hours, they treated tired legs, feet, backs and shoulders 🏃♂️➡️
The experience was invaluable as students worked together as a team to speak to runners who have pushed their bodies to the limit and worked to help them on the way to recovery 💪
We are very proud to support the event that helped raise £4 million for vital research and rehabilitation work by @CwC_UK.
Well done everyone! 👏

Our latest work just published today "Acute hypoalgesic and neurophysiological responses to lower-limb ischaemic preconditioning" in @ExpBrainRes
In short, we didn't observe much other than a bit of a reduction in pain sensitivity with IPC!

Good luck to Team Row4Cancer as they take on the World’s Toughest Row! 🌊
The team set off earlier this morning and will row 4,800km from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua & Barbuda — braving 20ft waves and burning 5,000 calories a day.
We're delighted to have supported the team with their preparations over the last two years, with our incredible School of Sport and Exercise Sciences supporting them with top-tier fitness assessments and a rigorous training regime.
We'll be cheering them on every stroke of the way! 💪

A new @FabioZambolin study which demonstrated that exercising with a stretched and sore leg (activating mechano-nociceptors) reduces TTF and exacerbates central fatigue in the contralateral limb
Another nice demonstration of the fatiguing effect of pain!

Our @UniKentSportSci team has been hard at work assisting @TheGillsFC with preseason testing for their upcoming SkyBet League Two campaign ⚽️
The team recently conducted comprehensive respiratory screenings, checking nasal flow, airway inflammation and lung function to ensure the players are in top shape. This helps us pinpoint any areas needing extra attention to boost their respiratory health 🫁
