On this date 50 years ago, the first episode of the Thames Television sitcom George & Mildred was broadcast. Spinning-off from Man About the House, the series went on to spawn a successful stage show and also a film.

It’s been a privilege watching this lad develop from his early @ScotlandTonight days into one of the best I’ve known in four decades of journalism. Good luck @PeterAdamSmith with your post-ITN adventures.

Many happy returns to our dear friend #SallyGeeson who celebrates her birthday today. The actress is fondly remembered for her role with Sid James in Bless This House and other comedy roles with Norman Wisdom and the Carry Ons. Happy Birthday, Sally!
Emma Atkins is such an ace actress. She's really knocking it out the park with her raw, powerful performances as Charity in this current sexual assault storyline 💔 @emmerdale #EmmaAtkins #ITV #STV

Enjoyed seeing @lewis_damian on @lorraine this morning, but I do wish he'd come to #Inverness. We always get left out of a lot up here, like we don't exist! #DamianLewis #Lorraine #ITV #STV
