There’s a lot of pieces on Pitt’s roster with bright futures. More about them in our 2027 preview.
Underclassmen make up about 75% of Pitt's roster this season, and the Panthers are relying on a sophomore class to set the standard for Jenny Allard's program.

I think the ACC is going to be pretty wide open this year if Notre Dame can make the improvements in the circle, they’re gonna have a chance to make it back to the postseason.
Notre Dame lost a lot of close games in 2026, and Kris Ganeff wants her returning core to turn those near-misses into a postseason appearance.

Gabi Novickas is one sophomore hitter who could be poised for a big season. She makes strong contact and the ball flies off her bat. If she can cut down on strikeouts and reduce how often she chases pitches, she should see better numbers this year.

Most of Melody Acevedo's extra-base hits came in Big Ten play, which leads me to assume she started gaining more strength in her hand again after breaking a finger right before the season started. A full-strength season could mean higher power numbers for her.

I am so incredibly blessed and excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey at Stanford University! Playing collegiate softball while pursuing an outstanding education has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and I'm so beyond grateful to the Stanford coaching staff for making it a reality!
First and foremost, I would like to thank God because none of this is possible without his lasting love and plan for my life. Without my faith community, I would not be in the position that I am today🫶
Next, I'd love to extend a HUGE thank you to my family, both immediate and extended, that have supported me and stood by me throughout all of these years of travel, the ups and downs of this game, and ultimately in my recruiting journey. To my parents, I love you both more than words can express, and I'm so thankful for all of the love and resources that you have given me to help me succeed. Also, a big thank you goes out to all of my friends who love and support me in all aspects of my life. Each one of you is special to me, and each one of you has made a lasting impact on who I am.
Also, an extension of my family, I want to issue a special thank you to my RTGSA Wildcats coaches and teammates. It’s because of you that I love this game as much as I do, and I’m so grateful for the ways that you keep working in my life (even if it’s from a distance).
Also, I'd love to thank my Firecrackers family who have been apart of my travel ball journey since day one. Coaches Sean and Tony, you have made such a positive impact on the way that I view both this game and myself. I'm so grateful for the countless hours of work that you've spent helping me achieve my goals. In addition, I'd like to thank all of my teammates (and especially my current FC Select Rico-Brashear teammates) for showing up every day to learn and grow with me. I've never regretted a moment spent with yall. Also, I thank my high school program and coaching staff for supporting me in pursuing my academic and athletic goals.
Last but certainly not least, I want to thank Coach Allister, Coach Merchant, Coach O'Toole, Coach Cheese, and Coach J for believing in me and for giving me this wonderful opportunity. I'm SO excited to get to work and join yall at The Farm in a couple of years!
