BREVARD COUNTY • KENNEDY SPACE CENTER FLORIDA – SpaceX executed a late Thursday-night rocket launch from Florida’s Space Coast.
A Falcon Heavy rocket launched into orbit at 11:54 p.m. from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Brevard County, where sonic booms rattled homes as returning boosters landed at Landing Zones 1 and 2 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
This is the second and fourth flight for the two first-stage side boosters supporting the mission, which previously launched the GOES-U, Viasat-3 F3, and Roman Space Telescope missions.
Falcon Heavy's 27 Merlin engines across three booster cores produce more than 5 million pounds of thrust at liftoff. After launch from historic Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the rocket flies a northeasterly trajectory — visible from North Florida all the way up the U.S. East Coast.
