Looked at the book page of the new Costco connection. Out of 8 books several (3) were NYT bestselling. Another was a 'beloved novel.' Yet another a 'collector's edition. 'Acclaimed author', one 'James Patterson' (and all the ghost writers), another Jack Reacher (talk about looks like AI). The protection racket is alive and well.
This is one of my favorite Halloween pictures.
My daughter was recovering from cancer surgery.
She had thyroid cancer that moved to her lymph nodes.
This is my favorite because she had come from the doctor who said there was no sign of cancer. Anne had the stitches (running from ear to ear) and IV lines from surgery and I built a bolt to go through her neck.
It is my favorite since it was taken in 2014 and she is still cancer free (and I think she makes a pretty good creation of Frankenstein).
Do you believe in Ghosts?

My wife and I were talking about being cremated the other day. I told her that I didn't care what they did with my remains, although I think it would be kinda neat if they leaned my corpse up against a headstone.
My daughter said they wouldn't allow that sort of thing. I told her there were enough old gold mining towns in the hills with deserted graveyards, that they could probably find one that nobody would care. My daughter commented that it was ghoulish.

New poem. Latin translations below. 🖤

ALT Somehow in darkness' echo I lose everything I am. Ignis, salva me. Deep inside the ebon shadow I grieve, therefore I am. Doleo, ergo sum. Stagnant ponds of my own making, dreams of sorrow that remain. Nox aeterna, tene me. Solemn echoes, empty chambers, left to rot inside my cell. Memento mei. In the fleeting wealth of happiness, time passes, oh so fast. In the moment of your smile's curve I get lost — until I'm found.
I picked up my dog from the vet last night.
She had 7 teeth removed.
I hate to do that – I can only imagine how traumatizing it is for an animal.
She is still in pain and bleeding a bit, but it is the look in her eye that gives me pause – “why did you do this to me?”
What does that have to do with writing?
To some, it might be “it’s just a dog.”
But writers feel things deeply.
Don’t be ashamed to feel – it is what gives soul to your writing.
Mr. Death: Heaven and Hell
I was having a beer one evening with my friend Mr. Death.
As usual, there was nobody else in the bar.
I don’t think most people can see Mr. Death (Grim to his friends).
But, he has an ‘aura’ about him and when he is near
most people leave.
Kind of like a bad smell.
I asked him, “After you die, do you go to heaven or hell or just nothing?”
He said that wasn’t really his department.
He said he was more like the person that punched your ticket.
Where you go after that is not his concern.
However, he has heard rumors in the Reaper Coffee Shop.
I really wanted to ask him about the coffee shop, but figured that might be a topic for a different discussion.
He had heard that most people went to a shining light; although he wasn’t certain if his fellow reapers were privy to inside information or just read it in a book (he noted that reapers liked to read when they weren’t on call).
As a writer, I was encouraged. I wanted to ask what kind of books reapers liked, but decided that was also another conversation.
He went on to say that he had heard even most lawyers and politicians made it into the light, although none of his fellow reapers could figure out why.
I asked him about hell.
He said he had heard it existed, but for most people it was just a continuation of what they had on earth.

Day 300 writing tip, October 27th, 2026
✍️ BOOK LAUNCH DAY
Happy Book Launch Day to all who celebrate.
When I woke up, my husband wrote this note on my computer, and I feel like I can do anything.
And on day 300!
So how does a writer get to this day?
If you've made it past...
1. The Manuscript of Madness
2. Through the tunnel of "I don't love this phase" editing.
3. Past the last round of "Who wants to hide this manuscript under the mattresses and tell no one."
4. To, okay, I might actually do this.
5. But wait, where did that spelling error come from?
Then you might be ready to launch the book out into the known universe.
You might feel like you are never ready.
You will be.
What if no one reads it?
Maybe, but you can always gift everyone a copy at the Holidays and Birthdays.
The point.
🪅It's day 300 of writing these tips.
🪅Every day, showing up and saying something that might help someone, just as they help me.
🪅Michael and I planned to release this particular book about 3 years ago, and we're finally getting here.
🪅Knowing this book is not like the others.
🪅Knowing we kept the integrity of Michael's voice.
🪅Knowing it's a book guys might want to read, too.
1. You can get there if this is your road.
2. Take one day at a time.
3. Let us celebrate with you on your own launch day.
There are only 65 days left this year.
Let's make the most of it.
Stephanie
King Ari Press.
I woke early this morning with my mini-Ausie partially under my pillow. My wife was trying to get a blanket around her and she was shaking. I thought at first she was having a seizure, but when it didn't stop I got really worried. I put my arm around her. When I decided it was time for a trip to the emergency vet, I put in my hearing aids - and then I heard it. One of our smoke alarms was chirping. Fixing the smoke alarm fixed the dog. Hold on to those you love, particularly when they are frightened.
(but remember to put in your hearing aids).
Happy Halloween!
This was my house in 2016
I kinda got into the SPIRIT!
Today there are no decorations
Spirits change, people change, life changes
Walking my dog this morning it was cold, windy and rainy
It reminded me of when I was young, driving an open tractor
At the time, I was miserable
Today, however, it made me realize that I was alive
It all depends on your point of view and your position in life

My new book releases in one week 🥰 so I have a new 📌 post
Would be super grateful if you could help me spread the word ☺️🙏🏻
The school my son teaches at shut down for 2 days.
They had a computer security breach.
When I was in school
They had a paper shortage.
School didn't shut down at all.
We worked around it.
Thinking about the friends I have made on social media
Some I have lost, some just vanished with no trace
With in-person friends, I always know what happened
With online friends, not so much
Are they real or just part of the matrix
What is real and what is not
Sort of like my books – some of it is real and some is not
