Green Bay has been one of the worst matchups in football for opposing linebackers when it comes to tackles + assists, but I think there’s a chance that changes with Josh Jacobs back in the mix.
The Packers have been pretty pass-heavy this season with Jacobs missing the first six games, but they’ve been vocal this week about wanting more balance offensively. Jordan Love admitted they’ve leaned too heavily on the passing game and said the running game “has to get better.” Jacobs also talked about being more physical, grinding out tough yards, and how successful runs can encourage the coaches to keep feeding him.
Last week was Jacobs’ first game back, and both Detroit starting linebackers cleared their tackles + assists lines:
• Jack Campbell: 11 T+A (line 8.5)
•Derrick Barnes: 6 T+A (line 4.5).
Small sample size, but encouraging considering Green Bay’s season-long numbers against linebackers.
Jacobs handled just 11 carries in his return, so you’d expect that workload to increase in his second game back. Especially against a Carolina defense that ranks 32nd against the run, allowing 153.2 rushing yards per game and 5.2 yards per carry. They just gave up 258 rushing yards to Tampa Bay last week.
Lloyd opened the season with 13, 9 and 9 tackles + assists in his first three appearances. He’s gone under in his last two, including just four last week against Tampa Bay, but that came in a 30-point blowout where his opportunities were limited.
Carolina’s offensive line is also banged up, so Bryce Young could be under pressure quite a bit. If Green Bay can force some quick possessions, that should give Lloyd more opportunities defensively.
I think Green Bay’s season-long numbers against linebackers could be a little misleading now that Jacobs is back. If they’re serious about running the ball more, this is about as good a matchup as they’ll get to do it.
Spread kindness whenever you can. You never truly know what someone is going through or the battles they’re fighting behind closed doors. A little compassion can go a long way. Be good to people. ❤️

If we’re scoring at home, the Orioles or Red Sox will be losing the World Series at home next October.
He battled foul trouble and hooks the 6th one in the end. Profit made regardless. 🤝

🏀Karl-Anthony Towns Assists 🪜

The Knicks are off to a disappointing 1-3 start, and KAT has gone under his assist line in three of four games. But when you look at the competition, there's some important context.
New York has faced a gauntlet of physical, tough defensive teams:
-Detroit Pistons: 9th-best defense in the NBA
-Boston Celtics: 10th-best defense in the NBA
-Philadelphia 76ers: 4th-best defense in the NBA, and a team that was absolutely fired up for its ring-night matchup against New York.
Tonight, the Knicks get the #FastAndBad Chicago Bulls:
-4th-worst defense in the NBA
-Fastest pace in the NBA
-Allowing the 8th-most assists in the league
One of the biggest keys to the Knicks' success during last season's deep playoff run was their flex offense, with Karl-Anthony Towns orchestrating from the top of the key, finding OG Anunoby on backdoor cuts, and distributing to Jalen Brunson and the other Knicks cutters.
Through four games, it genuinely looks like opposing defenses spent the entire offseason game-planning to disrupt those actions. The physicality, defensive pressure, and attention to KAT have made it difficult for New York to establish that same offensive rhythm.
This feels like the first legitimate opportunity for the Knicks to get that offense rolling again. 63% of Karl-Anthony Towns' assists come in the paint. The Bulls defense has struggled to protect the interior, allowing the 8th-most points in the paint.
We've already seen another talented passing big, Anthony Davis, take advantage of this matchup, recording five assists against Chicago and comfortably clearing his 2.5-assist line.
We Are Having Fun.

Are we not getting a Tyler Kolek line tonight because of that bogus 12 minute NBA rule?
