Retaining 40 million records from the vast network of Nazi concentration and death camps—such as Buchenwald, Dachau, Auschwitz, Neuengamme, Flossenbürg, Mauthausen, Mittelbau-Dora, Natzweiler-Struthof, and Stutthof—the Archives today are searchable online. In October, SEHI’s Tracy Perrelli and U.S. @HolocaustMuseum's Dr. Rebecca Boehling joined the 11-country meeting of the International Commission of the Arolsen Archives to plan ahead for its 80th anniversary in 2028. Last year, 109,000 Americans searched for relatives murdered by the Nazis via the Archives’ free online portal, which has over 40 million documents on some 17.5 million people including Jews murdered in the Holocaust as well as forced laborers, political opponents, Roma, and others. See arolsen-archives.org/en/for details. #NeverAgain

Three years ago today, Hamas terrorists tortured, mutilated, and murdered 1,200 innocent civilians in Israel. Among those slain were men, women, and children — including dozens of Americans. We will never forget this act of barbarism against an ally and recommit ourselves to the defense of civilization.

Three years after Hamas terrorists carried out the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust, the pain and heartbreak of the families remain. Today and everyday, we remember the victims, stand with the survivors, and affirm the resilience of the Israeli people. Good and light will always triumph over darkness and evil. We will always remember them. @Isaac_Herzog

An urn containing human ashes is displayed in Block 9 of the new main exhibition at the Auschwitz Memorial. It is surrounded by empty frames that symbolize the victims of the camp whose faces we do not know, and whose identities may never be recovered. The empty frame reminds us that behind the number of 1,1 million victims were individual people, each with a name, a face, a life, and a story brutally cut short. 85 years ago, Nazi forces and accomplices murdered more than 33,000 Jews at Babyn Yar in Ukraine in just two days. The United States is committed to safeguarding the historical record of the Holocaust. We must honor the victims of #BabynYar and all those murdered and those who survived by confronting Holocaust distortion and denial through #HolocaustRemembrance. #NeverForget @USEmbassyKyiv (Photo: Yad Vashem)

Minister @PrienKarin is right.  In voting to ban these stumbling stone memorials, the Heidenau city council has voted to make Jewish life invisible yet again. Rather than erase the memories of the victims, the city must reverse this shameful decision and commit to honestly grappling with this important chapter of history. bbc.com/news/articles/cqm2mm…

More than 100,000 people have visited Lithuania’s Lost Shtetl Museum in its first year, a remarkable milestone for a museum located in the small town of Šeduva. Opened in September 2025, the museum brings back to life the world of Lithuania’s shtetls, the towns where Jewish communities lived for centuries and played an integral role in the country’s cultural, economic and social life. Šeduva’s own story lies at the heart of the museum. In August 1941, 664 Jewish men, women and children from the town were murdered in nearby forests, effectively destroying a centuries-old community. Rather than focusing only on how that community died, the museum seeks to show how it lived, through photographs, personal testimonies, family stories, objects and multimedia installations. Its surrounding memorial park traces the landscape of the community’s final journey to the killing sites. The museum itself has become part of the story. Designed by Finnish architect Rainer Mahlamäki, its buildings resemble a cluster of traditional houses, creating an abstract reconstruction of a lost shtetl. The exhibition was designed by Ralph Appelbaum Associates, the firm behind the permanent exhibition of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington. Visitors have travelled from Israel, the United States, South Africa and across Europe, demonstrating the enduring international connection to Lithuania’s once-vibrant Jewish world. Admission remains free for the museum’s second year, ensuring that this history — and the individual lives behind it — remains accessible to everyone.
