Today, Eden Yerushalmi should be celebrating her 27th birthday. Instead, she was stolen to Hamas hell on October 7, 2023, where she turned 24. Where she was eventually murdered in a tunnel in Rafah with five other hostages. To this day, photos of Eden can be found plastered around her hometown of Tel Aviv with the last thing she said to Israeli police, begging for them to save her, "Find me, okay?" On Simchat Torah 2026, a particular darkness shrouded every home. And so it has been every year since October 7, 2023. October 7, 2026 is the first “annniversary” on which all hostages are home.
