Steam is still working on clip recording. It supports background recording, includes timeline markers in supported games for various events. Clips can be shared similar to screenshots, via the Steam community.

⚠️ It looks like Tesla is removing Steam capability in new Model S/X’s. “Tesla is updating the gaming computer in your Model X and your vehicle is no longer capable of playing Steam games. All other entertainment and app functionalities are unaffected.” Bummer. Maybe the data shows nobody uses it, hence the removal.

Valve has been working on 'game recording clips', but there's not enough details to figure out how it will work. Probably recording and sharing clips from Steam client? And they're preparing to ship the redesigned cart to beta client users.
