At WWDC 2026 in June, Apple gave us a chance to share the story of the Step Into Vision community. ✅ Attending WWDC ✅ Speaking at an Apple Event 🔲 Next goal: Winning an Apple Design Award I've already started work on the app that I hope will get me to the next goal.

Render layers are a neat tool to have. We can create stark or opinionated lighting rigs with them. The bottom example has two spotlights with wide cones, each targeting a separate layer, allowing me to get the visual effect I was after without the light flowing behind the wall.

Dynamic lights don't scale when we volumes get resized, so I made a component to handle this. I haven't updated it for visionOS 27/RCP3, but that is on my list. stepinto.vision/example-code…

Ornaments on Volumes work much like Ornaments on Windows. Volumes have three layers for anchors: front, center, and back. stepinto.vision/example-code…

Ornaments allow us to decorate our windows with information and controls. We can anchor them around a window, and adjust their alignment to suite the content. stepinto.vision/example-code…

This is how I ended my presentation at OhioXR. I focused on visionOS as a computing platform. It was a rapid-fire showcase of features, capabilities, and real-world use cases. My objective was to show people a glimpse of what's possible on this platform, to spark some ideas.

Hey visionOS developers, here is a new free Swift package that helps you build apps around reskinning your real room! Scan your room on Vision Pro and it rebuilds the space as a themed 3D world, on device. Every couch, table and wall is measured and swapped for a fitted asset.

RCP3: We can reimport assets from source files, including variations on the original. I imported a USDZ asset and added it to a scene. Then I duplicated the USDZ, made some changes in Preview. I replaced the assets using Reimport From to see the change across my RCP project.

RCP3: we can configure an asset to reimport from source automatically. This is pretty helpful when you're quickly iterating on something in Blender or Maya. Set up an export workflow to the same file, and then have RCP3 watch that file.

RCP3: Preview on device isn't perfect, but it can save a lot of time. We can live preview many changes, and we can sync others with a button press. Tip: create an entity with a perspective camera at a good viewpoint. When previewing in immersive mode, you can switch to this view
