Everyday these hardworking people face incredible challenges. It’s nice to hear them laugh together. #gingerbreadhouse #facultymeeting @HernandezMS
I got to participate in Ms Sloan’s science class. Students were engaged in a quiz-quiz-trade activity solidifying their understanding of ecosystems and biomes. @HernandezMS #studentengagement – at Round Rock, TX

Ron Clark says, “If you have to be here, BE HERE! If you have to walk down the hall, can’t you walk down the hall with a smile on your face, high fiving kids, and spreading joy?” #highaims2019 @ronclarkacademy
Opening session of the Ron Clark Academy is about to begin. Interested to see what the next two days hold! @HernandezMS
There go the kids! And so ends (sort of) my first year as an Assistant Principal. I’ve learned a lot, made some mistakes, and realized I need to handle stress much better. Now I need to finish collecting textbooks, wrap up the master schedule, etc... #firstyearap #tired
The band is on the stage and ready to entertain! Hernandez Middle School Spring Band Concert @HernandezMS @rrisdfinearts

Try to limit yourself to 5-8 minutes of whole group teacher talk time for each class period. Time yourself to see how long you ARE talking on a typical day. If it is more than 10 minutes, they likely won't remember much of what you say anyway. #TeachBetter
With a rainbow in the background, students leave for winter break. I survived my first semester as an AP! Can’t believe all I have experienced and learned over the past three months. Grateful, Blessed, and Exhausted! But have already begun to reflect and plan for next year.
Math is everywhere! Now there is a whole line of shirts based on the square root of the answer! Enjoying the holiday break! #mathiscool – at Austin, TX
“Do not make value judgements of students based on skill deficiencies ... teach the skills explicitly” Heard this just now! Loving the conversations today in IB training #ibo18 – at Portland, OR
Sitting in an IB conference and just realized I grossly misunderstood what is meant by the term ‘global context’. Grateful to be a learner but realizing all the times I spoke in ignorance and can’t retract! #lifelonglearning – at Portland, OR
Voted Early! Very little wait! Grateful to the election workers for keeping the polls open on Sunday! GO VOTE!
Loved what I saw in math intervention as one student worked through a problem. It’s not about memorizing facts but building on prior knowledge, creating problem solvers, and praising persistence! @HernandezMS #studentwork #problemSolving
“So shines a good dead in a weary world” One of my favorite movie lines from Wiily Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It was what came to mind during lunch duty today when I saw a sixth grader writing a birthday message to his teacher. #goodness #encouragement @HernandezMS – at Austin, TX
