I know that, 80 years or so ago, when she first went trick-or-treating in Jersey, dressing up as a “hobo” or “tramp” was considered cute. It’s not, anymore.
After Martha Stewart sparked backlash with a since-deleted post featuring her dressed as a homeless person for Halloween, she said she was trying to bring awareness to the “serious subject.” bit.ly/47Q2TvR

Many actors, alive and dead, would say Nichols had the right idea.

Watching 1968’s “The Green Slime” on TCM and remember people arguing over the poster, “The Green Slime Are Coming!” Shouldn’t that be the Green Slime IS coming? Watching it now, though, I can attest the correct answer is: “The Green Slime” is crap.

Taylor Swift doing grip-and-grins with writers at special FYC screenings of “Toy Story 5” and, for once, Diane Warren is not the songwriter Most Desperate To Win An Award.

I will not ask actors for selfies, but once I spotted Patrick Stewart walking in NYC, on his way to appear in “Macbeth.” “Is this an actor I see before me?” I said. He grinned. We both kept walking. And that was worth more than any awkward IPhone photo. #PatrickStewart

I sympathize with anyone facing reduced circumstances, and applaud holding onto tradition, but if -- like one person recently interviewed by the NYT -- you're now planning to give trick-or-treaters ten-cent packs of ramen, maybe it's better to just pretend you're not home.

Thanks to Greenwich Entertainment and everyone who helped bring "Queen at Sea" to @TPHRFC last night (and to Lance Hammer for Zooming in) -- a brilliantly acted tragedy made only more tragic by every character's best intentions. Opens Friday.

Things to look forward to.
A top GOP official accidentally said on a hot mic, "If Netanyahu loses reelection in Isreal, and Democrats in the US win subpoena power in both Chambers of Congress, all I can say is Jared Kushner is completely, totally, utterly, and historically, spectacularly fucked."

This is like Lucy dissing Beethoven to Schroeder. "Beethoven isn't so great... He never got his picture on a bubblegum card, did he? How could he be great if he never got his picture on a bubblegum card?"
OK, I'll bite. If John Cassavetes is so insanely influential and brilliant, why have I not heard about him until recently? I've been on a side-quest with classic and esoteric movies, mostly through the Criterion collection. I've watched dozens of Criterion closet picks from filmmakers and actors I admire. They pick Cassavetes films ALL THE TIME. Probably more than any other director except Scorsese. I haven't seen a single Cassavetes film. I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about a Cassavetes film outside of those videos. I'm not a slouch on film, I've got a pretty wide spread on what I've seen & what I appreciate. How has Cassavetes slipped through that net so completely for so long?

Hey @HP , bought and paid-in-full for one of your laptops, oh, about five years ago. And no complaints! Until recently when you started running your own ads on it every time I signed on. Well, I never signed on for THAT. Stop it, or at least tell me how to stop it. Or bye-bye.

"There's a hundred million descendents of Rose and Joe Kennedy in the world. And yet only one of them is an ex-junkie, sexually predatory, steroidal bigot who eats roadkill, spouts fringe conspiracy nonsense and eagerly tongues the presidential perineum."
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Novel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

The quietly confident, deep-down decent cowboy may be Hollywood’s oldest, sexiest hero. We’ve already lost Sam Shepard, Robert Redford, and now Tom Skerritt? It’s up to you, Katharine Ross: Make sure Sam Elliott takes care of himself.

Or, as we call it at CBS News, "our editorial process."
Some parents are ditching plates and silverware for a “dump dinner,” pouring the meal straight onto a foil-covered table and letting the kids dig in. For these families, it’s less about manners and more about making memories.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The "dump dinner" is a viral social media trend of staged videos primarily for engagement, not a common family practice. Children in videos often react with alarm rather than requesting it. thebiglead.com/dump-dinner-vi… theguardian.com/food/2026/feb/… newsweek.com/table-dump-din…

Note to journalists, real or would-be: If you're going to expose a politician as hypocritical, corrupt, senile, or treasonous? Best to do it while they're still alive and in office.

They broke Eisenhower’s globe because they didn’t want to wait for a team of specialist historians to move it. I cannot think of a more apt metaphor for Pete Hegseth’s DoD.
EXCLUSIVE: Pete Hegseth wanted Gen. Dwight Eisenhower’s globe for his office. His staff broke it. We have photos.
