Well, for starters, "tariff" is a different word from "tax" - which is specifically addressed in the Constitution - tax bills must originate in Congress; this does not apply to tariffs.
If the President can lawfully impose an embargo, why can he not impose a tariff?
Should a President have to stand idly by while other countries rip us off and take advantage of our market? We elect presidents to PROTECT us!
💥BONUS: If Congress can justify regulating tariffs because tariffs allegedly cause inflation (they do not, and have not - prices are going DOWN), how many other economic policies will Congress be able to seize from the President and assert control because they are perceived to cause or are an indirect cause of inflation? A real slippery slope.
